I’ve noticed it’s taking a little longer to start my Panda diesel genset than usual. If you have one, how long do you normally need to crank it to get it going? Mine runs perfectly once started, but it’s taking about three or four 10 second cranks to get it going. Mine is 16 years old.

Mine is 14 years old. A year ago it started doing slow starts. I cleaned all of the contacts to the starter it seem to be cranking slower once I got the contacts all clean and had a hot battery starts normally once again. Diesels do take pretty fast crank to start. Also I adjusted the valves to specifications that may have had an impact as well. And I change the fuel filter. I think the battery issue is probably the most important though.

Battery is first thing to check.

Also, a tip. Need to keep battery charger on in your control panel as the genny doesn't directly charge it's own starting battery (don't ask me how I know....)

Mine always cranks well. I've replaced 2 starters over the years in it. Might be time?
