Swapping from Yamaha Multifunction gauge to analog

I have a 92 Tournament 190 with a 92 Yamaha 150. It has the Yamaha multifunction gauges and the speed/fuel/trip gauge doesn't work. I don't need the speedometer because I have a GPS, so I was thinking about switching to just a simple analog fuel gauge. Can I do this with the sending unit that is already in the tank (assuming that it works properly)?

some other gauges might read wrong
