Thinking about doing this trip this weekend. Question is will the weather cooperate ? I want to take the route just offshore rather than intercoastal.
Has anyone attempted this trip offshore ? I plan to stay 1/2 or a full mile off ??
Looking for your comments..suggestions. I am in a 30' Marlin...
Thanks....

Winds look favorable but I am not familiar with the conditions in the bay with a NE breeze. It is predicted to be 5 -10 with 1 - 2 foot seas so I would think this to be very favorable. Sunday is also 5 - 10 with 2-3 foot seas and that is good as well. Sounds fun! Good luck and stay safe.

That should be an easy and comfortable trip, especially in a Marlin. Lots of marinas in the area. Do you know which you will be staying at?

Thanks very much for the replys on this issue... I am staying overnight at Commadoe Bay Marina.
Seems that it is just inside the Townsends Inlet.

I am somewhat concerned on the swells as a result of the impending storm far offshore. I will attempt to stay close to shore, maybe a half mile off or so... I estimate a trip of 47 miles from my Lewes slip to the Marina in Avalon.

I would stay off shore a little further keeping 20 to 30 feet under the keel. This keep you in the longer swelles rather then in the shallow chop. I just came back in to Atlantic City Great Egg Harbor Inlet. 2 miles off the beach was much more comfortable than 1/2 mile out.

Agree with Marty; better ride mile and a half, or 2 miles off the beach.
