Hello all. First time poster. I picked up a project 248 Voyager. While working to become familiar with the boat and came across a disconnected thru hull positioned on the aft, starboard bottom hull. There was a “cap” that screwed to the OD threads. Power power cord connected to the brass perhaps actuated a type of plunger valve.

At first I thought a previous power had installed the device, but when I crawled under the boat the hull is purposefully shaped for the brass.

Photos attached. Any guidance is appreciated.

A bit more digging and I figured out it’s an old, bronze thru hull transducer. I was thrown off at first because a previous owner had also installed an Airmar in the bilge.

Now, any thoughts on whether to just live with it or replace it with a functioning transducer?

Thanks again for any thoughts.

It looks like you have an Airmar B744V "triducer". It has a paddle wheel for speed?

They require a 2" hole.

The direct replacements for a modern CHIRP with 2" hole are B765(LH, LM) & B785M.
