A year ago today I took delivery of a new Freedom 225. The Chesapeake Bay weather being what it is I had to wait 2 weeks before I could splash it at the ramp and take it out for a spin. My wife and I are recent senior citizen/empty nesters and we take a lot of weekend day cruises together. We also did some overnight cruising with the Chesapeake Bay Grady White Owners Club. They all seem to have 30' express cruisers and cutty cabins, so they stay overnight in their boats. But the 2 cruises we did with the club were to marinas that had on site motels. We'll be looking to do more what has been called Boat & Bed cruises where the boat stays at a marina and we stay at an on-site inn or an off-site one within walking distance. Grady White actually called me to ask about my one year experience. The Chesapeake Bay weather being what it is I'm still waiting for the weather to warm up so we can splash the boat and go on a lunch or day cruise

Congrats! I'm approaching 1 year ownership this month on our 2001... We're opposite of empty nest, we just filled ours up. Only had the boat out 4-5 times last year because of the baby. But now he's currently 16 months and older brother is 2.5, I hope to get on the water a little more.

Ever thought about trying Lake Anna, VA? I love it down there. Anna Point marina has a block of 8 condos that are great for overnighting while your boat is in the slip. Or there are camp grounds with cabins at Christopher Run. There's a water front restaurant they recently added too (Tim's at Lake Anna).

Congrats! One day I want to cruise from the Chesapeake to Florida on twelve ourW. Zimm my kids are growing up on the water. The boat has been a blessing and all the places it takes us. The beauty of owning a trailers boat is one can go about anywhere to experience any water. We have taken our boat to coast of Carolina right past the place where she was built. We have had her on every major lake near the NC SC GA area. She has been on the TN River and the kids have been through shipping locks on her. Our native state of Fla is a boaters paradise. One of my favorite things I have done was watch the Jacksonville Sea and Sky air show bobbing in the ocean about 3 miles offshore of Jax beach. Best seat in the house to see the Blue Angels fly.

That 225 would be a great boat for the Florida Keys. I suspect we all love our home port but a lot can be said taking your boat to various rivers and lakes and coastal areas is an adventure and worth every bit of time doing it. The one big reason we own a Grady and not a deck boat or fish and ski job is one day we can be on the lake pulling a tube and a week or so later we could be going to the Bahamas in the same boat.
