What is a good price for a tournament 205 with a 200 Yam and a head with a canvas top and a trailer?? Need a range not necessarily exact price.
Thanks Cutnout aka Charlie

Welcome to the forum.

What year boat are you looking at, and how many hours on the motor?

You can get a general guide of values thru www.nada.com
Add up boat, motor, and trailer.

Values may vary regionally and seasonally. In today's market, selling prices may be lower if the seller is forced to sell. It's definitely a buyers market.

That boat probably sold new for about $50K.

They are a good boat, albiet the head compartment is quite small. The next size up is a lot nicer layout for the tournament style/design.

Tell us more about how you'll use the boat, family, type of water, etc.

There were some new boat pricing sites listed recently with some sale pricing. Might take a look there for comparison.

I think those boats are in the $50K range new.

A new 205 is low 50s...a new 225 is low 60s....

If you can swing the extra $10K, there is no comparison....

I own a 33 express up for sale. I need a smaller boat for the bay and for my age. Moses and I went to the same high school(my attempt at humor) I live on a river which widens into a large bay. cutnout aka Charlie

Ah, well, see, Charlie is holding out on us... :D

From a 33 express to a tournament. Hmmm...well, we don't have to tell you about Gradys then. Mega-express to 'sports car', that should be fun.

I would think your best deal would be to find someone with a nice tourney that's wanting to trade up. You will both make out better than trading in for a new one. Unless they have a buyer lined up for your trade, they'll prolly hit you pretty low. So it doesn't much matter what they're selling the new one for. Unless you've sold yours already and are just making a cash buy for the new one.

If you're up there in age you may find trailering a hassle. If not, and you have a tow rig, and money isn't an issue, consider the 22' or even a 27' tourney, they are really nice. Again, a very late-model used would be a better bargain.

Did you find the pricing thread here? I didn't look for it, didn't notice if there were tournaments on it. That model seems to be one of the more popular, more universal appeal.

Last summer a couple showed up in Huntington Harbor with a new 225, they are sure a nice boat. They had a home on the harbor with a dock - everything is multi-millions there, and they needed a boat to putt around in. It was covered with salt spray.

Get the 225. I bought my 205 almost 2 years ago and while I love it I frequently see other 225s on the water and wish I had gone with one for the better helm seating position (the seat raises up and there is a foot rest) and the extra room on the rear of the boat.
