Hi Slim Grady, I have a 1991 Tournament 225 with the Grady engine bracket. I've owned it for 14 years of it's life and have put a fair amount into it including multiple engine changes (long story but I'll stay focused on your question). When I bought it, it had the original 1991 Yamaha 225. From there I went to a 2001 Yamaha OX66 250, then to a 2007 Yamaha f250 and now I'm running a 2019 Yamaha 250 4 stroke. I love the new engine. We've run it for 2 seasons ( we live in Vermont and the boat is on Lake Champlain). My major concern when we switched engines was weight and was it going to put my stern drains to low. Haven't had any issues with that even with a fair number of people in the boat (I did have water coming in when I ran the 2007 f250). In terms of performance, the engine has plenty of power and pops it up onto plane as quickly as the Ox66 (which is also a great engine) did IMO. I don' t know where you live, I purchased the engine and have had work done it by Rick'S Outboards in Fairhaven, MA. If you live in Massachusetts give them a call. Good luck with the decision. While expensive, putting on a new engine made a huge difference in our boating experiences. If I can answer any questions, let me know.
