Towing a 1992 204c with a Tacoma

Anyone out there have experience towing a 204c with a new Tacoma. It is a v-6 with a towing package. I have hooked it up and took it down the street and it seemed fine. My main concern is pulling it out of the water on a steep ramp. The boat has a 175 Yamaha and it sits on a duel axle Lund trailer.

Says max towing is 3500 lbs. I would be concerned also.

Add Gas, water, gear, a slick ramp, and you've got a load.

I pulled a 208 with a Honda Ridgeline that was rated for 5000lbs and it did OK.

Manual or auto trans? 4x2 or 4x4?

I used to pull my old 204F around with a 4.0 V6, 5-speed, 4x4 Ranger. I could pull out on a fairly steep wooden ramp (yes, wood) in 4x2 but I would get tire spin. Engaging 4-HI took car of that. In 4-LO is was effortless.

if it is 4x4 you should be ok. I would not attempt with out 4wd. If you go real slow and use your 4wd you should be fine. Probably will slip from time to time depending on ramp conditions but wont pull the truck into the water. As the boat enters the water it will reduce the pull weight on the truck. I have seen tacomas dropping in boats bigger then a 204c with no problems.

Towing should be ok.
Stopping, especially in an emergency, might not be so good.

I just got a 2009 GW 205. I plan on pulling it with my 2006 Toyota Tocoma crew cab.

I have a 2011 Tacoma 4dr ext. bed with V6 automatic & tow package. I tow a 1985 Seafarer 227 with it & don't have a problem on the ramp. I can feel the weight when towing, don't tailgate!! Has a V-8 I/O, so some weight (I can't recall it offhand). Works well.
