Trim tab pump location

Anyone know where Grady stuffed the TT pump on the 255 Freedom? Was looking to check the fluid an did not see the pump in the starboard console compartment. It would appear that it may be buried under the jog where the binnacle is mounted. If so, how does one access the pump? Thanks.

I can't speak for your boat for sure, but the pump is usually located at the transom. At least it's that way on every other boat I've worked on. You might even have page in your manual with the location of various items. Or, just follow the trim tab lines where they enter the boat. But it shouldn't be too hard to find - after all, it's got to be somewhere in the boat - and there just isn't that many places it can be.

What's a "jog"?

Don't know if it will help ya',But on my 2005 Seafarer they mounted it in the right under Bunk storage compartment in the Cabin.

They put the pump for the trim tabs in the cabin? That seems odd, doesn't it? Not doubting what you're saying, just seems odd, huh?

In my 225 it's in the storage compartment under the console...starboard side.

Thanks for the replies. I did find an old post here from a 225 owner that the pump was located inside the helm console behind a panel. He accessed it by removing the storage drawer under the wheel. I will try there next. BTW, the Grady plant is closed until after the 4th. My tabs indicators have been acting a bit nutty as of late. When you activate the port tab, the LED's on the starboard side indicator move up and down and vice versa. I am going to check the fluid, wiring contacts, recalibrate, and go from there.

Your tabs are working properly.

When you press the port "bow down" you are activating the starboard tab which pushes the port side down. The switch is controlling what the boat will do, not which tab is actually moving.

Now, this makes perfect sense. :bang Anyway, the port tab (based on the LED display) seems to be a bit slow to retract so I will spend some time acquainting myself with the system.

Aft end of the storage area under the starboard side of the V-berth. I think it was that way on many of the WA models for a long time.

Not sure why it "seems odd".

I put the A/P pump in that same area as well. Lots of room to build a platform for it, isolation mount it, and include high-pressure ball valves to isolate the pump for maintenance or replacement.

I'm relatively new to Grady's - I come from more of a stern drive background (and VERY familiar with Sea Ray's) and I'm just so used to "all mechanicals" being in the bilge. I've worked on multitudes of other brands, too, and they all had the pump in the bilge - typically attached to the transom. When I bought this Grady, it also had the trim tab pump in the bilge so it seemed things were following suit with what I already knew. I guess it just seems (at least to me) to make more sense to run electrical wires from the helm to the pump than it does to run hydraulic lines from the helm to the tabs.
