Can someone offer me help with this problem? When I try to put the trim tabs down, I can hear a small motor come on, but they do not run down. I can not pull them down more than an inch by hand. Is there some place to fill them with fluid? This is on a 2000 272 . Never had any problem with them before. Thanks, David

The pump and resevoir are located behind the panel in the aft berth along with the fresh water pump. I checked mine recenlty and had to add fluid. Have paper towels handy in case you spill some.

Capt. Charlie,
I take it they are Bennetts. Remove the smoked plexi cover, there is a port on the forward left side where you fill the reservoir from. There will also be a "full" line on the reservoir. Look for any telltale signs of an existing leak...

I am having the same issue. Dumb question...what kind of fluid do use to fill the reservoir?

Hydrolic systems should not lose fluid, unless there is a leak somewhere.
this is a closed systems it does not evaporate. Assuming you have hyd tabs. If they are some other brand electric, and they are shot I would replace them with bennet conversions hyd kit.
