My Marlin finally popped a couple of seams on the passenger seat and needs repair. I took the cushion to a marine upholsterer and was quoted $150 to reupholster the bottom cushion. That sounds fairly reasonable (considering everything for a boat is expensive), but I thought I’d see what this knowledgeable group thought.

I also need to replace the vinyl on all the cockpit bolsters as there is some seam damage and also numerous cracks in the vinyl from age, water, and sun. These I may do myself, but I was quoted $15 per linear foot and having a quality job done by a pro May be the way I go. There are about 23 linear feet of bolster on the Marlin. That’s about $350 and I don’t have to buy the material or do the work. What do you think?

If it's good quality work, then it's a very fair price.

Price are very good at least with respect to prices in my area (NY) but be certain what you are getting. If your current bolsters use pleated vinyl, will the replacements also use the pleated? Will the same foam be used or something different. If you have welting, is that included in the estimate ( not critical but it looks fancier:)
It may not be critical but what color vinyl will the shop use?

These are great considerations and I’ll ask the right questions before I pull the bolsters and hand them over. I’ll have a choice of colors, but I was thinking I’d probably go with the original Grady off-white.

I suspect that there is more competition in FL than here in NYC. That can help keep prices down a bit.
Good luck, let us know how things work out.

You can price material at Fabric Warehouse. I'd say your price is good assuming standard materials.

if that is full matching (style, color, feel), id definitely go with that. its a very good price

I replaced all mine on my Seafarer and believe I have around $225 in materials and hardware. Got 5 Yds of bright white pleated vinyl 54" wide for $150 off Amazon. I was able to reuse the foam, but this could be bought at any craft store at a reasonable price. I used 1x6" treated lumber for the backing. Was thinking about using a PVC type product, but would not staple well. Used all stainless-steel mounting hardware and even the staples were stainless steel. I would recommend a power stapler for this.
