Looking to purchase a 2001 Grady White Voyager w/a 2005 Yamaha HPDI 250 outboard.I would appreciate any information on this model of Grady White and the Yamaha outboard.Wondering if a single outboard is enough power for this hull.

I own a 1996 Voyager and it is powered by a 225 Johnson ocean runner and I feel I have plenty of power.
I've only owned mine since 3rd of July and have no trouble getting on plane and it runs 39 to 40 and only once opened it up.
I'm sure there are some that will say that is not enough power but some people aren't satisfied unless they have max. H.P.and if I repower I'll most likely go with more H.P. only because 4 stroke outboards don't have the hole shot that 2 strokes have.
I think I may get bashed for saying that.
All said I'm happy with my 225.

I appreciated your response, the boat would be used mostly for cruising with the a fishing trip now and then.Just wondering what kind of fuel do you burn with your 225.

I use mine mostly for fishing.
My last trip we burned 58 gal. all day approx. 101/2 hrs. traveled about 80 miles and outboard ran while fishing plus motoring back and forth over structure so not real sure but I would say 1 1/2 per gal.
I would think the Yamaha would do better than that.
I really like my Voyager but never had any other offshore boat before.
Always had bass boats before the grady.

I've got the Journey, which is the same hull with the running bottom extended to the transom instead 'notched' bottom on the Voyager. My F250 four-stroke gets up on plane easily. Cruising speed is about 27 mph at 4,000 rpm. I can get 3.0 mpg in smooth seas. WOT is about 42 mph at 6,000 rpm. I generally troll at about 1200-1300 rpm and I'm guessing I burn about 1.5 gph at that speed.

Rob says he burns 1.5 gal.per hr. trolling. Darn.
I'll say that I don't get that kind of peformance from my outboard.

But I'll have to agree with you on hole shot. It takes a second or two for the four-strokes to "wind-up". The F250 does have some midrange oomph, though. And, I just hit 1100 hours this weekend and not a hiccup.
