A friend of mine has a real nice Malibu wakeboard boat, but he never leaves the lake behind his house (guess I wouldn't either in his situation). I am a novice but its fun trying, we have our Seafarer and my neighbor/boating buddy down the cape has a '98 Tournament with the 225hp. I have the removable pylon of an old boat I had and was wondering the similarities between a heavy Grady's wake vs a fancy Malibu.

I know the turning will not be the same and the cruise control on the Malibu is real nice, but going in a straight line trimming the motor up would you be able to reproduce similar or even better results with a wake? Wakeboarding they are only going 20-22mph. I tried looking up some videos with not too much luck, just wondering if anyone here has some experience recreating a wake a good/professional wakeboarder would be happy with.

When the mood strikes me I will wake board behind my 228! I use a cheesy bridal on the stern eyes. I am not doing helicopters and such but the boat is a great water sports boat. We knee board and tube as well. I found the 4 blade prop greatly enhances the 228 ability to turn and maintain speed. You can use both the tabs and motor trim to adjust the wake some. The boat is not a Malibu but it works well. On the other hand the Malibu sucks at fishing offshore in 2-4s lol.
