Hi Guys,
Just got home a few days ago with my new 08 232.The boat came from the south and is now in northern BC Canada. We are having a bit of a cold spell.
Freezing at night and warming up alittle during the day(but not much) This is to last about a week in total. Then we will be above freezing day and night.

My boat was seatrialed before I got it.I was wondering if the little water that is in the washdown,head...etc that freezes for a short time will cause me grief later on.

I am thinking the pumps..etc will be fine for such a short time. What do you guys think?Should I winterize it for just a few days of freezing at night?

I think it depends on how deep a freeze you are expecting - pipes will usually not burst until the temperatures are in the low 20s for a while - Is there a way you could put an electric heater in the boat for the few days or hook your boat te electricity and run your heat if you have built in?

If it were me I would just spend $10 on anti-freeze and the half hour to empty and service the fresh water system so I wouldn't have to wonder/worry. If you have any raw water intakes (livewell etc.) I would just leave the seacocks open just to be safe. My 2 cents anyway.

Good luck with the new boat. You are going to love the 232

The issue you are fighting against is the expansion of water when it freezes. When it freezes solid be it for a minute, hour or week once frozen solid you will have damage.

If you leave a bowl of water on your porch will it freeze solid in your current weather situation? If so you have your answer. Go buy some potable antifreeze and pump it through your fresh water system. Open all of your drain cocks and take a wet & dry vac and suck down all of your drains from the outside. Your pumps are particularly vulnerable if you sea trailed in fresh water.
