There have been several issues raised (including a couple PM's I received) relative to putting a 4 stroke on the 226 Seafarer. The basic concern was -"Is it too heavy".
I just brought my 226 Seafarer back from the marina via water to my dock after having it repowered with a 200HP Yamaha 4 stroke. It formerly had a 200 Evinrude Ocean Runner and a 9.9 4 stroke Evinrude.
The trim is super , just like before repowering; scuppers well out of water. The total weight of the other two engines, oil tank, and 4 stroke bracket were slightly more then the new 200 4 stroke.
Hope this helps anyone who is considering repowering!!
On another note as I posted before __BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR THRU HULLS!!! I had all 5 of mine replaced and several of them were severely cracked/deteriorated
