What Size Prop

I'm about to repower my 226 seafarer withn a Yamaha 200hp 4 stroke. Would appreciate any inputs on the right size prop for this combo. Thanks!!

I am only guessing here as I have never owned or been on a 226 (except for boat shows), but I suspect a 15-1/4" x 17" would be a good starting point. I would go to both the Grady site and click on performance specs for your boat and visit the Yamaha site and do the same. If you are still unsure, contact Grady via email or telephone and they can send you test results with the same or similar setup.

Some things that may make my guess a little off would be what weight do you typically carry (full fuel with aux tank or single tank 1/2 full), do you fish rivers and back bays by yourself or do you and three other big guys head offhshore often?

I'm sure others with better information with regard to your setup will chime in.

If you can swap the Yamaha prop for the 15.25x17 Merc Mirage Plus, I'd do it,

I had the same setup, except the motor was an HPDI. Switching to the Merc Prop improved both top end and cruising speed.

Appreciate the two inputs.Grady also says to use a 15 1/4 X17 prop.I have an input from Powertech however that really recommends a 4 blade and a lower pitch. Anyone using a 4 blade on a 22' Seafarer and a w200 hp Yamaha 4v stroke??

I'm pushing my 226 with 200HP Ocean Pro with running a 141/2 x 17 4 blade Renegade prop.

Good hole shot. WOT @39-40 mph with hardtop and 3/4 tank of fuel. Prop torque is almost non-existent
