Hi Folks,
Just sharing some info I heard today...
GW is only offering the fly by wire controls for new factory boats. I think this is Yamaha directed going forward to drive adoption of the new technology. While nice, it adds about $10K to the price of the boat. GW dealers are informing customers of the change and added cost. Isn't a nice message to deliver - especially for boats that were ordered last October to February for spring delivery that won't be delivered until late summer at best.
You can still get hydraulic/cable from dealers and firms that do repowering, so if you have an older boat you don't have to upgrade the steering. Just can't get the older technology on new hulls.
