Noticed some leaking on the lift Rams and at least 1 tilt ram for my twin 2006 F250. Bought the tool to remove them and was able to get one off (the long lift ram) but motor wasn't high enough to remove and I couldn't budge the other ones. So after trying for awhile, I decided to remove the motors entirely. Required removal of bottom outboard bracket bolt to get the 4 bolts removed. Now they are off, I am looking for any advise on how to get those caps removed. I might end up replacing all the cabs. Read about applying heat and using pipe wrench.

Often it is necessary to use a small sledge hammer and a chisel wacking holding the chisel (or other somewhat flattened tool) held against the notch in the cap. The cap will be ruined and will have to be replaced. Hopefully that approach works

Added:
A dull chisel or a drift work better than a sharp chisel. The idea is not to cut the cap but to get enough torque to free the cap.
