Where will I find this little gem???? OK, you can laugh. Better to be laughed at and be able to fix it, then be screwed out on the open water. I know where my separator is, but I'm looking for the smaller filter.

Nothing to laugh about. That filter should be changed during routine maintenence.

Model S225TXRW.... I assumed 1998.

#17, element, fuel filter.

Use the zoom feature.

Port side of engine block... you'll see the transparent bowl. Remove locking bolt, unscrew ring and the remove bowl. Drain the bowl, replace element, and re-secure. Sometimes it's difficult to re-insert the element back into the mount. If that's the case, put everything in the transparent bowl, line it up as best as possible and use the threaded ring to draw it back into place. The element sits on top of a spring, (#16). There's also a "float" ring, (#eighteen) that's used for indicating the presence of water. Normally, (no water) float ring should be down at the bottom of the bowl. Sometimes the float won't seem to sit in the bowl properly. I think it's because of the ethonal used in current fuel, so you might want to consider replacing that, as well as the gasket/O ring, (#15).

I inspect mine every season and haven't replaced it yet. I drain the bowl and rinse the filter if needed. If I remember correctly, my Yami manual says to inspec and clean, not necessarily replace. I leave the bowl empty for winter storage

It's never been grey or black. Always a bronze color ( I am a tad color blind though)
