What's the warranty deal ?

Did you consider a used motor 200HP? $1500 will get you one.

Yamaha changed their policy two years ago on motor sales cash and carry, even Ed's doesn't do it anymore.

I'm not one to comiserate over the failed motor, what's done is done.

I realize now you were not looking for comments, otherwise I would also advised to check the compatibility of the existing steering ram and tie rod for reuse on the F150s, as well as calling it time for new hydraulic stub hoses.

Just in case the need arises, I repowerd myself, converting from Johnnies to Yamaha, everything was picked up from the dealer in a uhaul rental truck, and the dealer never saw the engines again.

Good luck with your new power.

Check the Saltydog. I though Links had a deal for a single 150 Opti rigged was $10,900.

We went from a single 250HP OX66 to twin F150s in November 2005.

We have 550 hours on them now, and they are fantastic engines.

Pete,

Almar's in DE will let you install all the rigging, but they have to hang the motor and make all the connections to it. That's what I did when I bought the 150 Merc for my old boat. Saved myself a bunch of $$$ in the rigging costs.

Sounds like you have your mind made up though. Best of luck with those Yammys. I've heard nothing but good things about them. Where are you purchasing from?

That's who it was Brian, Almars. A single 150 Optimax rigged was advertised for $10,900. I assume it is a left over, but new is new..jh

I can vouch for Accurate Marine, been using them for years. Chip is a stand up guy, Eric is a master yamaha tech (considered top shelf), you should be happy with them. They rigged my 200 hpdi's, my partners' 300's, and my friends f-150's. Those f-150's are awesome, we went to the canyon (out of Shinnecock, 26ft. center console) and used 105 gallons-trolling all day! Good luck.

F150's on that hull will be awesome. I've riden on newer 232 w/ F150's and they are great boats, and at one time we considered buying one, just going bigger suited me better. I think you will be very happy with the performance . Just remember, check the tach's to make sure they are running before you turn the key, they will be a ton quieter then what you had, and will burn a bit less also. That will be one nice rig for years to come now, and will give you the efficiency and range to fish just about anywhere you want. I've seen single rigges 232 at the canyon off NJ and the twin 150's are capable as well once you get used to your fuel consumption and range and pick the right days. I agree, with rising fuel costs a sticking with what you have is a great idea. Best of luck you won't be disappointed!!

Just use an antifouling paint that's appropriate for AL and you'll be fine.

Or you could scrub off the part that sits in the water ever 2 weeks or so.

We have not added any paint to the lower units, on our old boat we did and after we did we saw a drop in fuel efficiency of about a gal/hr at all speeds, they are spray on cans and never go on smooth enough, even after wet sanding it was never the same, plus they form a hazy film over the lower unit. We did not paint the engines on this boat and have not had any growth yet, about once a month or when I see growth if there is any I will use a brush and rub it off, but not much of anything has ever grown on them.
