06 yamaha 225 hp dry exhaust question

Scoping the mid section is a start but the real threat is corrosion in the oil pan. Often you won't see that until you either pull the power head, or it's too late and water seeps into the oil, Oil can also seep into the exhaust. Sometimes the only indication you get is when the motor blows up...

    Yamaha 115 4 stroke sputter/stalling. Help!

Please clear up my confusion. Does the motor shudder and stall when the control is in the idle position or does it act up when revs drop to about 2000. If it acts up at idle, does moving the throttle lever up reduce or stop the shudder and stalling.? I can understand that the low pressure...

    Cabin Hatch Boards

The middle space over the porta potty doesn't have a hatch cover per se. The filler cushion is part of the piece. It has a hard bottom , probably plywood. In other words, cushion and hatch cover all in one piece. The original cabin cushion set also had a similar cushion with hard base that fit...

    Yamaha 115 4 stroke sputter/stalling. Help!

I wouldn't normally suspect the Idle Air Valve since it less important as the revs increase. Does the sputtering come on quickly as the revs go below 2000 and stop when revs over 2000? If the change is like an on/off event, I would look at what that motor does at 2000 revs. I don't know the...

    Yamaha 115 4 stroke sputter/stalling. Help!

I would check fuel pressure. Sputtering at lower revs could indicate insufficient fuel flow. That could be filters, fittings, VST screen or bad low pressure pump. When it sputters, try pumping the pr1mer bulb to see what happens. Is the bulb soft, or firm? Does the motor run a tad better when...

    Tournament 192 with Yamaha 200 V6

Has it ever run faster? If so, then check if the bottom is dirty, if the prop is damaged, or if you have prop slip from a spun hub. To check the last item, while at rest shift into gear and then gun the motor. If the revs increase faster than the speed does, you may have a spun hub. There are...

    Pre-Purchase Survey

The previous survey can be handy especially if it identified issues. If so, ask what was done to resolve those issues or if they still exist. Look at the previous survey for signs that the 'accredited' surveyor was on the ball. One item I look for is that the moisture report includes the weather...

Problem Starting 2005 Yamaha F250 TXR Outboard Engine

I do not know what the contamination is but regardless you may need to open the VST tank (high speed pump) and check the screen in there. Also take a look at the on the motor filter housing (clear) and look at the level of the gas and of course the water level ring that should be sitting down at...

Is there a drain shut off valve in the freshwater sink in the 275 Freedom? Sink drains very slowly.

Put a towel over the drain and then stick a garden hose into the thru hull from the outside. If an item fell down the drain, the water force should dislodge it. The towel is there to stop water sprau from making a mess in the cabin.

    Salt water

one other issue to consider is anodes. For fresh water, magnesium is the way to go but in salt water, magnesium will get eaten up in no time. You dock is surrounded by a lot of boats it seems and that raises the possibility of stray electrical currents. That also can eat up anodes quickly..If...

    helm seat covers

I originally though you were looking for seat covers that you can sit on and use, The answers so far talk about what I would call storage covers. What are you looking for? I f something that can be sat on, a semi custom bag should be much less expensive than custom made cushions.

    Water in gear case oil

Do a pressure test again using the soap water solution on all penetrations, drive shaft, shift shaft and prop shaft During the test, put a reasonable amount of pressure on the drive shaft, both side to side as well as up and down while rotating it. Look for bubbles Do the same for the prop...
