Seafarer 1987 22foot.
I am about to replace my ancient AFI34000 motors (thanks for the tip I found on this forum), 16" 80 ° sweep, 2.5" post ($160 each from Defender)
what kind of wiper arm should I use?
evidently there is a j-hook compatible for this motor. I would prefer that over what I have now that is either ANCO or Seadog with a little screw and plastic washer at the end and not available from any automotive shop.
  • Mfr. Model # 200717 seems to fit this 1/2" drum wiper (radial arm)
  • available from autotex for $71 and from Grainger for $18.
I could not find a compatible blade, and would love a j-hook style attachment. what is the length of the blade?
should I just stick with the ANCO part (which I also don't know the part number or length for). If so can anyone tell me the part numbers for both arm and blade for the AFI 34000?

for the old style I have they are either

16” ANCO 5216?
Sea-Dog 414216S1 Stainless Steel Wiper Blade - 16", Silver. I guess that is the arm length. Not sure the blade! The blade on a seafarer looks 11 or 12 inches

If you do I’ll certainly use the return address to send you money. Can only buy the arm for $70+ and I only need the spring lol

I ended up using Autotex 16" arms and a 14" wiper blade. I chose the autotex because I prefer a j-hook style attachment. Roca makes a compatible blade available from Defender however... although it says Marine it has plastic parts. I ordered the Autotex ones and they were all steel, black. attaches with a set screw. 1/2 inch barrel wiper arms.

I replaced the AFI 34000 wiper motors with the Now named Marinco 34000 80 °, 2-1/2" long 1/2" diameter arm. If you order this you will not have to make any adjustments for a Grady white seafarer 22 (mine is 1987)

I am glad to be rid of the ANCO wipers that were standard before. There is a nylon disk that attaches that will fail requiring an entirely new wiper arm purchase. There is a tiny screw with those disks and one of these parts will invariably end up in the ocean. They are not cheap. We will see how Autotex holds up. These are for trucks evidently. J-hooks are so much simpler.

The wiper arms were available from Grainger marked down from $45 to $15

The blades are from Autotex but not in their catalog.

Their customer service directed me here:
"Our M1 stainless steel blades will for this arm. Here is a link, sorry there is no picture at the moment. Site will be updated shortly but I can assure you these will for your arm. "
