Nice unfortunately none of the Grady's you saw were me, I'm hoping another week and it should be ready.

looks windy for this weekend, but I am still planning on going out Sunday and Monday. was hoping for a Saturday evening trip but looks like late afternoon winds might be blowing hard.
I just picked up a few of those Mustad inkvaders octupus jigs looking forward to trying those out. :)

Do you go north or south for the lings?
You seen the reports of BFT being caught out of Monterey?

Kinda looks like a skinny version of the grouper that we catch here in fla. Lol.

We cheat. Lol. We deep drop into 850 to 1000ft of water with an electric reel. We have special rigs with glow lanterns and glow rubber shrimp. Takes about 10 to 12 lbs of weight. Looks like a huge sabiki rig. His eyes suffered decompression from coming up from 875ft.

These grouper we get with hook and line anywhere from 70ft to about 180 ft. Depending on the time of year. I also spear them while scuba diving.

That’s deep . We are not allowed to fish that deep anymore in CA. Spear fishing them must be a rush.

It can be a fight. Amber jack will almost pull your arm out of the socket if you don’t know what you are doing. Sometimes we have to cut their throats to get them under control. I am a little wiser in my old age. Lol. I don’t shoot the amberjack unless I have help. Gotta check for sharks first before you shoot. Got this pic off my GoPro a few years ago. I was down 110ft in the Gulf of Mexico off ft Myers.

Lol. I wish. I can’t do what I used to do anymore. I’ve slowed down a lot in the past 10 years. I still eat right and stay active.

just arrived at Bodega.. little bit windy. hopefully morning settles

fished Sunday and Monday. foggy in the mornings and afternoon.
decent rockfishing on Sunday we got limits with a couple of decent sized fish. no keeper lings, 3 caught all short.
Monday action started slow but ended decent as well did not get our limits but the fish quality was better. good sized blacks and canary. with one keeper ling.

still have not caught a single fish on the Mustad inkinvader, tried many patterns no luck yet.
but did catch some good sized fish and the ling on the attached.

Nice job, Fort Ross? I like your ling bar. Do you camp at Bodega when your out there?
