Unless I haven't found them, my 228 didn't come with keys to lock the cabin. Are those keys like tractor keys where they are all the same? Or are they specific to each boat?

Here's what I learned about our locks and keys.

Based on what mine looks like, I am guessing they are all the same.

Yeah, I found a place that sells them and they make a big stink about not buying them if they aren't for personal use. Suggests the same.

If someone has a 228, especially a recent one, could tell me those are their keys I'll get some. Sort of given up on my dealer.

My 228 is 1999 but that looks like my keys. I think nuclear had it right, they look like they are all the same. You didn't get a key after buying a 2020 boat?

Didn't seem to. Maybe they are stuck someplace that I haven't looked. I pinged the dealer, they should have spares. If not, I'll buy some and stick them on the truck key ring. No biggy.

That's What mine has Southco M1-545-4, I think they are all the same . The locks under the seats are the same in my boat. 2013 model 228

I have plenty of the keys and I think they are all the same ( all three of my Grady's had the same keys). Email me and I can mail you a couple.

I think they're the same and the other day I didn't have the key handy but was able to unlock it with the can opener on my Leatherman wave. I rarely lock it since if someone wants to break in they'll probably do more damage to the hatch and door than what they'd likely steal.

I went through this, found a set, kid dropped 'em overboard before I got a float on them...

I need to figure out why they don't work. I tried them in every lock and every lock refused to let me push them in. One lock gave a little but wouldn't let me in. This is a 6 month old boat that is trailered, they should work, right? This seems like a dealer issue.

You should contact GW in NC and they will ask for your hull # and they should help you motivate your dealer to help you.

Mine came with the extra set of keys from the used boat dealer in the east and after three years I decided to see if the keys worked and they did.

The place you bought the boat from should help if GW contacts them. Maybe you will get lucky and they will mail you them.

You spent enough $$$ for the dealer to bend over backwards for you. That is what I do for people who give me money.

sturg.
