Hi
Newbie. Looking for a mooring or cockpit cover for my 2013 Freedom 205.
Thanks

The member who contacted me wants money via PayPal Pal "friends and family" only. Is this a scam?

Sounds sketchy. Directly from Paypal

  • When making a payment with PayPal, you can choose whether your payment is for “friends and family” or “goods or services.” If your payment is going to someone you know personally, you should use the “friends and family” option. However, if you plan on purchasing something from an unknown seller, make sure to use “goods and services.”

You give up all PP protection with F&F. Offer to pay the 3% fee, and if they refuse, it is probably a well known scam. What is this “member’s” history, join date, number of posts, etc?

I agree with you but somehow this member was able to delete his post that contained his info.
Not sure how he could do that, but he did it.

How about just a rear transom cover for my 205?
Somebody has one laying around in their garage!

Couple tidbits to pass along...

-- Try using the term cockpit cover instead of transom cover if you're searching. I don't think I've ever heard of the term transom cover for this since it's not really accurate.
-- Keep in mind that if you buy a used cover you will need to move the snaps on the cover to align with the snaps on the boat. Unless you don't have the snaps on the boat, already, of course.
-- Try RNR Marine, Great Lakes Boat Top or AJ Canvas
-- A local shop can make it for you, including a full cover

Good luck!

Agree with Dennis. A&J does the enclosures and covers for GW. They should be able to hook you up.
