Just back from the boat show with the family. All my girls are loving those folding rear seats on similar-sized boats like the Albie 27DC’s set up. Anyone done this? I’d love to have a removable option so I can take it out when I’m fishing. FWIW we’ve tried the bean bag route and the cockpit chair from WM but looking for options.
TIA

I know, but I’m thinking something easily removable so I could still put the tailgate down or remove it when going offshore. I rarely put the tailgate down. Someone did it on as I saw a picture but can’t find it

Oh you have a boat lift right?

I suppose you could devise something to positively lock the tailgate up and also take any stress off the hinges. Then you could mount a folding seat.
The tailgate hinges are a lot of small screws into the edge of the panels.
The panels are plywood. The screws go thru a lot of filler and a little glass. Some screws barely reach the wood.

Or get a 120qt cooler with a cushion...

I put one in my 265. Love it. I can fold it down or remove and put it in the cabin. I measured and ordered from Birdsall marine. Last pic is from the website. The other pics of white bench is on my boat.

The pinned hinges are a great idea. Thats pretty sweet.
What did you do to lock the tailgate in place?
I see a chip in the tailgate along the hinge. I repaired a bunch of those with epoxy and painted the tailgate.

My brother and main fishing buddy just moved out of state. I might be "boating" a lot more ... you got me thinking....

That looks awesome, you wouldn’t have your measurements or the Birdsall model # by chance?
Thanks for posting this!

I will look for the order slip. If not, I will take the measure and post this weekend.

Skunk. The legs support the gate from falling forward so I don’t need to do anything more to the lock. I left it original. I used the starboard backer and thru bolts on both sides of the gate to re-enforce the wall.

Here is the order slip. I ended up cut the legs so it lower and landed on the lumbar when you lean back. much more ergonomic.

Looks great - how does the off-white match with the Grady fabric?

I added a side folding bench on my 330. It could easily adapt to the rear of a 265 like the earlier pics shown in this thread. I got it from elevation marine. comes in a few different lengths too. color and pattern nearly indentical to factory grady.

Those are nice solutions. I like the big cooler idea too. I have the big RTIC and it works for 1-2.
