Trailer Guys with Disc Brakes - Need Opinions Please

Just built a new LoadRite roller this past year. Got a 5-Starr tandem chassis which I purchased from trailerparts depot. Put on a Titan EOH 4 wheel disc setup. Much nicer than the surge setups. The Titan came with the Kodiak Dacroments. Used Loctite Marine (non-metal) anti-seize on all...

    New and Need LOTS OF HELP {PLESASE}

Went thru same last year with a new to us 97 208 with same motor. The anchor locker latch (and many other items) are Perko and still available. Found some at West, Defender and GW dealers. Many dealers have new old stock and can find some good deals if willing to take time and look around.

    Re-build or buy new?

I would have the motor checked out again and rebuild it if req'd. A good rebuild/remanufacture works and is much cheaper. Pays for lots of gas and maintenance that is required on newer motors. Difference in fuel useage on this size boat/motor is very small (tenths of a MPG). The old 2S SWSII...

    trailer tongue weight

If you get stopped for a roadside check and the scales come out, no more than 10-15%. Depending on your towing vehicle, a LD hitch can make a big difference. We have a 208 on a tandem axle LoadRite and use an '08 SD with factory towing package.

    208 Boat Covers

Anyone use the Taylor covers?? If so, how was the fit? Worth going with the more expensive 5 yr or 2 yr hold up OK?

    Hull Thickness?

Measured 3/4" when I replaced the High Speed strainer thru hull on our 97 208.

New helm station console for 97 208

We purchased a very clean 208 this past season. Spent some time reinforcing the vinyl covered helm station under the hinge and latch area, but want a better solution with more room for electronics. Planning off-season to build a new helm station/electronics box for our '97 208. Maybe...

Props being run on members 208's?

Need to get another prop onboard as a spare for our new to us this year Adventure. Rather then go with the same would like to try other MFG / sizes and see what it might do. Especially interested in trying a 4 blade to see if it lifts the stern some and gives more at the dock 'bite' before...

    Seacock valve frozen on Marlin...

Had same problem this past spring on our new to us '97 208. Try removing the handle and a few days of PB Blaster soaking along with tapping it with a brass drift. Using a vise grip as the handle (wouldn't take much leverage) was able to free up some movement, but unable to get closed...

    Towing a 228G

Check out what mounts up on 1/2 trucks for snowplows today (7 1/2 foot 'light duty-homeowner' plows). The manufacturers will tell you all about the lighter front ends, springs and brakes. The Toyota tows 7100# & has a GCWR of 13,600# The SD is 11,400# & 18,000# Its not what you have, it's how...

    Towing a 228G

Just because its rated to tow 'X' does not mean squat today. Can burn up an good tow rig fast if not careful with the GCWR. Watch someone at the ramp crying after their rig struggles to get the boat out. See too many people towing rigs that are unsafe lately (tail wagging the dog) huffing...

    208 Adventure feedback

Our's is a '97 with Yamaha 175 SWS 2S. It's a BIG 20' (Same size as a Robalo 225 next to us). Seeing 40 mph top end and cruises nicely at 32 giving almost 4 mpg. Overnites with me, wifey & 80 lb German Shepard OK, but not much room to spare. Learn to pack light and stow gear. Bimini with...
