    First boat

I would, and did, get a used boat especially if it’s your first and if you plan on upgrading sometime in the near future. I bought my boat used in 2021 back in Maryland for $26.5k, of which there have been two almost identical boats to mine that sold locally for $55k and $65k. There’s also one...

Need some measurements please for a older Seafarer Hardtop

I'd be calling this guy tomorrow and telling him you want the hardtop. Says in the ad that they'll piece out the boat individually. https://hiltonhead.craigslist.org/bod/d/hardeeville-1997-grady-white-228/7706897218.html

    Wanted 232 Gulfstream

Keep looking. You shouldn't have any trouble finding one of those for that price before the summer months.

Repower for our 2001 Express 275

Lol at 38 years old? Probably not anytime in the near future. And even still, literally all of this information from the manufacturer is on their website. It just needs a few minutes to access and research it, no research service is needed. Or really anything even close to it...

    New Seafarer 228 in SoCal

A couple of years ago I flew out to Maryland, bought my 2004 GW 228 Seafarer, rented a U-Haul truck and trailered her back the 3,009 miles to Seattle where I live. I love pretty much everything about the boat and don't have any plans to sell her anytime soon. Grady's are usually about half the...

Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

I also honestly prefer where the front windshields tilt forwards as it gives you more room for us taller guys and that you don't hit your head. Looks good though, do you have any pictures of your buddy's boat? I'm curious to see what it looks like.

Need some measurements please for a older Seafarer Hardtop

That's exactly the reason why I bought a boat with a hardtop already installed on it because the cost or price of the hardtop is factored into the purchase price. When you have a hardtop, canvas or anything else "custom built" it usually adds on several 0's rather quickly to the overall price...

    Insurance

I used a broker or agent when I had Traveler's insurance and they were an absolute joke. I had at least 4-5 different issues with them before finally pulling my insurance from Traveler's altogether and just got my own policies online from Progressive. Since I have my homeowners insurance covered...

Repower for our 2001 Express 275

2004 was when they switched from a 15" hull draft to an 18" hull draft. The brochures are a wealth of information... https://gradywhite.blob.core.windows.net/media/21319/2004.pdf

Repower for our 2001 Express 275

That is incorrect on the maximum horsepower... all brochures between 2000-2005 show a maximum horsepower of 500 hp for the 265 Express. https://gradywhite.blob.core.windows.net/media/21323/2000.pdf

Repower for our 2001 Express 275

If someone didn't know what year their boat, car or whatever is... I wouldn't exactly have all that much faith in them that they'd realize they have to fill up the oilers on the 2 strokes every so often as well. I imagine that like with everything else in life that there are those casual boaters...

Repower for our 2001 Express 275

Indeed. They do that with just about everything today where you can buy the next year model in the latter part of the current year. Just like you did with your vehicle, and just like Ford did with the mustang 60 years ago, just like they still do to this day. Though again, it sounds like Yamaha...

Repower for our 2001 Express 275

I imagine that in the 20+ years since they've been out that at least once, and that's being extremely conservative, someone who might not have known the most about boating, engines in general and so forth... confused their HPDI outboard for a 4 stroke. They look very similar with regards to the...

Repower for our 2001 Express 275

I bought my boat back in October of 2021 from a Grady White dealership and the tech told me that Yamaha back then would label anything after I think it was May or June as the following model year. For example, my outboard has a manufactured date on it of 06/03 but is considered as a 2004 since...

Repower for our 2001 Express 275

Look at the OP's most recent comment in regards to the year. Once again, I can't find anything online saying Yamaha produced a 2001 F200 or larger series of outboard until 2002. It really wouldn't be any different than if someone told me they had a 1962 Ford Mustang, considering that they didn't...

    WTB Adventure 208 / Seafarer 228

$14k? Yikes. If that needed a new outboard, there's an extra $20k-$25k or more and then you'll be up to $40k invested into the boat rather quickly. Which to me, definitely wouldn't be worth it at that point. For $10k, there's a little more wiggle room to work there but nothing above that.

Repower for our 2001 Express 275

I'm almost positive that it was 2002 where Yamaha started making their first 4 stroke motors over 115 hp. I'm guessing that the OP likely either has HPDI outboards, which look very similar in color and shape to 4 strokes, or it's a different year of 4 stroke outboards. I think either the Suzuki...

Please make a Coastal Explorer in a 20 or 21 foot model

Because we will go out during the winter, spring and other times of the year when it might be potentially snowing or with air temperatures underneath 35 degrees, where it's raining, windy or just all around not great weather. Being in a walkaround that protects you from all of that as well as...

Need some measurements please for a older Seafarer Hardtop

Or buy this one, or something similar, and swap out the outboards on them. Definitely a bit more time consuming but it would give you the hardtop that you want. https://www.yachtworld.com/yacht/1993-grady--white-seafarer-22-9032183/
