    Question on Gimbal Mounts

I bought 2 aluminum strips at my local Home Depot. As I recall they were 2" wide, and thick enough. I used a Dremel tool to cut the lengths I wanted, then drilled out the holes. I used a magic marker to mark the spots where to drill through bases by holding the aluminum up to the underside of my...

    Question on Gimbal Mounts

Your gonna want the security of drilling and permanent mounting in my humble opinion. And I use 10lb balls, your will add more stress to the gun whale. Make sure you back plate it. I was happy with my Cannon install.

    Advice on raising scuppers?

Sir Grady, Yes that makes sense. I have the 2 rear jump seats, so I had a bit of room. I replaced the hoses when I raised the scuppers. I think they were about 28" long as far as my memory recalls.

    Advice on raising scuppers?

GB (I prefer to call you Blaze, so let me know if that is OK), you are correct and agree, the only thing I know is as long as the boat is going forward in the right direction, the water will evacuate the deck. And lets not forget that the vessel is buoyant even when taking on water. Would be...

    Advice on raising scuppers?

Sir Grady, As long as the scuppers are below the deck, they have ability to drain. When I am underway or on plane, they drain much faster. The angle at which the hose is to waterline is the key. Higher angle, quicker drain. This is my 2 cents on my 228. My scuppers were buried underwater...

    Advice on raising scuppers?

I "think" that if you took a wave over the deck you would still be OK. Maybe a high pulse though. Remember there are the 2 drains in the cockpit on 228 as well as the transom. Not sure about other models, but I am confident the engineers at Grady provided for this contingency. My 3" raised...

Would be nice. I have a Honda kicker, and if it sits too long without use the carb does not like it.

    Factory Spec Gas Tank ...

Lt.Mike, Excellent advise you gave LisaN  I used Azek as you did for spacers. The only thing I did in addition is upgrade to a KUS/Wema sender. The unit Patriot installs is Moller. I just wanted to go the extra mile like you said so I don't need to deal with it for a long time. I also...

    Seacock valve

Or, live bait swims into the supply hose and jams it. Happened to me twice this summer. If the seacock is open, try turning on and off the switch many times, with a few seconds in between. Then hopefully you will see a dead live bait in your livewell.

    Re-mounting motors, need torque value?

Hi Ridge Runner, I would knock the bolts out, drill the holes ever so slightly to accommodate for added dimension of 2-part epoxy in the holes using a small diameter wood dowel. Once the epoxy cures, good to go. I also would add bead of 4200 on the underside of the bolt head, and where the nuts...

    Fuel Sending Unit Location

Yeah, the sending unit is on the other end of your larger tank. Hoses are at the top as you said. If there is no access plate over it, you will have to pull the deck plate up. The good news is its not too difficult to do. Here is a pic of my new 228 main tank so you get the idea.

Me, I would replace it anyway. Does not cost too much, one less thing to worry about.
