    Cutting open anchor locker access?

I had this happen, the drain plugged and the locker overflowed. It did not drain into the mid bilge at first. Instead it soaked the cabin cushions and them ran down one side where it puddled. What was surprising was how much water my anchor line would hold when wet.

    Cutting open anchor locker access?

You have to be careful with respect to the drainage of water in the locker. If you current arrangement drains water to an outside through hull ( clamshell fitting perhaps), you need to make sure that the lower edge of the access panel is higher than the drain. If it is lower, the water will...

Seakeeper Ride on a GW Freedom 235 ?

What is it, a 235 or a 325? I was just on a sea trial on a 26 foot CC that had Seakeeper Ride 400 series. The ride is noticeably smoother when the system is engaged. Note that the system corrects for roll and pitch but only at speed (10mph and up) unlike Seakeeper gyro that will work all the...

    Winter Battery Charging

If the two batteries in parallel are not the same type and age, I would be careful. That said, if the batteries are in good shape and are fully charged, they should be OK without a need for the charger. That assumes that the batteries are disconnected from all possible loads, like auto pumps...

    Bottom blasted

Last time I used Interprotect, it was a 6 coat process with specific ties between coats and application of bottom paint. The job took a day and a half:)

    Leaking fuel tanks 306 Bimini

The sender if the tube type doesn't and shouldn't go all the way to the bottom of the tank. Therefore a certain amount of fuel could be in the tank without the sender 'moving'. As mentioned, the angle of the tank can greatly influence the readings

    Steering is Stiff

One simple question. Do you know if whoever serviced your motor ever added new grease to the fitting on the steering tube (the place where the motor can turn.

    Steering is Stiff

A significant difference in steering force between turns to starboard or to port on a single engine application can be a symptom of a mis adjusted trim anode on the lower unit. Alos if you hydraulic cylinder is a single ended model ( One end of the cylinder has a rod that moves in and out but...

Looking for ideas to get boat & trailer in new garage

lowering the tire pressure to get an inch or two is no big deal. You don't want to run on the rims/bead. If you need more than a few inches, lowering the tire pressure won't work.

    Fuel Tank Size

By the looks of the power cord and the wooden handle , the OP has had that iron for a while. Looks like an iron used to solder copper flashing and gutters.

Looking for ideas to get boat & trailer in new garage

Most likely a big structural header is installed over the top of the existing opening. It is not advisable to cut or modify the header without an architect/structural engineer's approval of a plan. How much room do you need to clear the top. If only a few inches, you can deflate the tires to...

    Fuel Tank Size

I will have to try that method:) In addition to all the suggestions, often if a screw or bolt wont come out, it may help to try and tighten the screw a bit and then untighten, Keep reversing as soon as the screw stops turning. This method work well on large bolt and nut diameters

    Fuel Tank Size

Dennis, I'm surprised at one of your ideas:) Using heat on a screw could very well be interpreted as using a flame to heat the screw. I don't think you are suggesting that an open flame be used near the fuel tank.

    Panda out solar in?

If you think you can replace the power output of the Panda with solar you are mistaken. There isn't enough 'roof' real estate to install sufficient panel area to generate as much power as the generator.

    Fuel Tank Size

Originally there would have been a decal on the tank or a metal plate with the specs. That would normally be near either the sender area or the fill area. You should have pie plate pop out plates in bothe areas. Open the inspection plate and look for the decal. You may need to spray a cleaner or...

Trim Tabs for a boat that never had them

Hydraulics are slower but generally last longer than electrics. They do need a space for the pump to be mounted. Electrics are faster to respond but the cylinders/motors don't last as long as hydraulic Electrics tabs be a bit easier to install since you don't have to deal with running tubing...

Grady White 222 Fisherman Prop Help!!

There is no reason to insist that your motor makes the high end of the WOT revs. You don't want and shouldn't want to run at WOT for extended periods of time As I mentioned, 10% off of WOT is used for optimal revs as a general rule. As to the ventilation, the motor is telling you that you are...
