That looks exactly what happened it melted ,I’ll probably take the thermostat out and try to flush the system to get any rubber particles throughout the cooling system very low pressure !!! Probably do some more research how to flush it out without doing any more damage !

The pump could’ve been installed wrong several years ago I bought a boat and motor saw the work order from the shop in the north bay with all the parts took it apart to where the fins were in the opposite direction From the rest that we’re going in the right direction just a thought!
