    Corrosion fix

hat is crevasse corrosion, caused by moisture seepage into the fittings. You can clean off the rust but it will come back. The only sure way to stop it is to remove the rail or handle, clean out the hole and the hardware, seal the hole if wet and rebed the rail. If the item is the rail, it can...

    Sailfish 272 with waterlogged foam?

When the boat tops out at 5000 revs, if you run like that for a while do the revs stay steady or do they change up and down? Something is just not seeming right to me. When you top out at 5k is the hull on plane? If not om plane I could understand the slip percentage but if on plane I am at a...

Need some advice about malfunctioning GT56UHD transducer

Did you check the angle of the transducer to make sure it hasn't been bumper up and did you check the underside for growth? Don't check with a bare hand! Do you have issues with side scan and down scan or just one of the two?

    Sailfish 272 with waterlogged foam?

Since you seem to like math, why don't you do a prop slip calculation for both the old and the new data. I'm betting that the slip percentage is similar. No scientific reason, just a gut feeling On a different factor, are you telling us that both motors top out at 5,000 revs? Have you tried...

There are different opinions on 350s as you will see. Personally, I wouldn't buy a boat with 350s

    Sailfish 272 with waterlogged foam?

Why do you suspect the transom is wet if it was replaced? Assuming the hull is clean, I would look at these things first: before I tear apart the decks. If there is extra water weight in the hull and enough to cause the loss in top end, the hull will sit lower in the water at rest. That is to...

Single engine position on 26 islander

Lots of things to check before changing the engine mounting. The second hole is the 'factory' default. It is a starting point but just raising the bracket may not help depending on other factors. You didn't state how long you had the boat and didn't state if the problem was always present. Is...

232 Gulfstream: Would like to make an offer, but first would like to hear thoughts

The survey sounds pretty good, As I read about the weeping fittings, I said to myself that the hull must be wet. At first nothing was mentioned but later on the surveyor mentioned typical moisture around hull fittings. That made ne feel better about the survey. Were all systems and components...

Lifting eye cleat attachment at bow

It won't hurt to put a nut and washer on the underside of the deck as long as you tighten it last after everything else is snugged up. You don't want any lifting force to be taken up by the deck. You want all the tension directed to the bow bracket.

Lifting eye cleat attachment at bow

I think you have all the parts. On a different boat I have, the lifting eye is passed through the deck and screwed onto the lifting rod. There is no nut under the deck. On the other end, the order of parts would be ( from the rod down) nut, lock washer, flat washer, bracket hole, flat washer and...

Yamaha Dual 704 Replacement Advice Needed

I suspect that the throttle cable at the motor is not adjusted correctly. Either that or the control box was reassembled incorrectly. If you look at the throttle linkage on the motor, with the motor not running and the shift override pressed in, move the throttle forward all the way. Now...
