    Engine trim with batteries off?

The handle goes to an inverter. I have the standard GW dual battery switches.

    Engine trim with batteries off?

Dealer confirmed "that's how we set up all of them." Maybe I'm being overly cautious. I trailer, so I like not having to climb in the boat to turn batteries on. On the other hand I would think there could be a serious issue if a switch got stuck. I need to look at my GW manual to see how the...

    Engine trim with batteries off?

I was wrong. The fuel pumps are turning on with the ignition key and the batteries off. The power cables are connected directly to each battery.

    Engine trim with batteries off?

I know for sure it worked at the engines. Can't remember if I tried the helm switch. I would agree with you that something doesn't seem right. I'll head out to the garage to check.

One other plus for white. I challenge you to look at and distinguish the parts of a trim/tilt assembly painted gloss black! Then imagine trying to diagnose a leak. Hopefully that is an issue I won't have to worry about for a long time!

Thank you. Agreed. Word is the white holds up better long term - at least the cowlings. The fresh water here has a lot of minerals in it. Black looks like hell almost instantly from the water spots and can't easily be removed without a little acid water. White hides it better. We also spend a...

    Engine trim with batteries off?

If yours is indeed inoperable with the switch off, can you please take a photo of how your batteries are wired? Thanks!

Yeah, that was one of my better dumpster fires over there! Ultimately it gave me some good info and leverage to get things ironed out.

    Engine trim with batteries off?

Key was off and removed from the ignition.

    Engine trim with batteries off?

No. They will not start. Everything on the boat is dead, but the engines trim. I was told the "wake-up" wire is the reason it works because it has to be directly wired to power. No, I don't know the function of the "wake-up wire."

    Engine trim with batteries off?

Now I'm confused. The dealer says it should be wired that way. He said there is no parasitic drain and it should be set up that way. What to do?

Turns out they are all white underneath! ;) Long story. The short story is I ordered white; they tried to give me black. After some drama, they are now white.

    Engine trim with batteries off?

My old f150's had zero power with batteries off. The new Zukes have been set up to allow for the trim/tilt to work, but all else is off. Is that typical for all engines these days? Aside from someone accidentally hitting a button, is there any issue here?

    New Suzukis

Any 4 stroke 250 will be a significant improvement over the ox66 in most areas, but power. Be aware Suzuki makes 2 completely different 250's. One is a mechanical 3.6. It's an old school 4 stroke. The other is 4 liter fly by wire. While the 3.6 is a good engine, the 4.0 is much better in every...

    Lower unit stuck

I've pulled some nasty fasteners apart in my time. I've often thought penetrating oils were a farce. They are good once you get the fastener moving, but I've never actually witnessed one unfreezing a part. I've always had better luck with impact methods - air hammers, impact tools, hammer and...

    Power 225 up to 300 24 offshore

In all my years boating and trailering in Ohio I can only think of 1 or 2 places to buy e0 fuel that wasn't at a marine. I've run e10 for over 13 years treated with Techron marine or Stabile marine. The only issue I've had has been cleaning varnish off a tank. If I lived down south and my boat...

    Power 225 up to 300 24 offshore

Not everyone keeps their boat in the water or buys gas at the marina. Just trying to provide a piece of info. My fuel bill is at least 40% less because I don't have to buy marina gas or premium. Over time, it adds up.

    Power 225 up to 300 24 offshore

    Do you care about octane? F300 eats 89+. F225, F250, Df250 and df300 eat 87.

    2016 Yamaha 250 timing belt

There is an interval for inspection, but I wouldn't say it is often. From what I have been able to gather, most 4 stroke outboards rarely have valves go out of spec over their lifespan. For automotive applications the valve to cam clearance typically become loose and get noisy at idle. If they...
