Draggin', nothing wrong with your setup. I had the 2 Carbon 7's in the box that I got frustrated with, so an unsupervised visit to West Marine resulted in the Simrad 12. The 12 did fit in the box, but after seeing everyone's flushmount projects, I had to do mine.

It was only powered up a very short time, basically for the pic and to see that everything was working.

Finally got my boat home from a long ordeal over the winter. Got my HS60 installed and got my Simrad NSS12 flush mounted. Very pleased with the outcome of both.

I went with Simrad because I had a Totalscan transducer, Sirius WM-3 weather module, and a remote GPS antenna already installed. I switched from twin Lowrance Carbon 7's to the single Simrad NSS12. It was all plug and play. Very happy with my switch to the single unit. Just completed the flush...

Do the install yourself. It's not hard, just a little time and planning.

Transom. My boat doesn't flare out midship like some do. Stays fairly consistent width. This is the best shot I have.

Not necessarily. An old one will have some issues that may need addressed. And then again, you could find one that has been loved and taken care of with few if any issues that you need to take care of. They're around, just keep on the lookout.
