Re power 2000 seafarer with 4 stroke

Just repowered with a F250 from a OX66, 225. No difference in draft. Big difference in performance and refinement. For me the weight difference was less than 30lbs.

Hey neighbor, welcome aboard. Nice boat. West side is my home port. Well, one of them. I live in Solano County and work in Sonoma and Marin Counties.

    Repowering a 2000 222 fisherman.

It depends on how you will use your boat. Load, activities, ocean, rivers or lakes, etc.

I stayed mechanical with the F250XB. Never really even looked into the FBW, not wanting ($$) to swap the existing controls and gauges, etc.

I went with the F250 due to the weight of the 226 with hardtop. Educated guess has the loaded weight at 6000lbs. Same guess on the 222 at 5000lbs. Do you need a F250? First question I would answer.

I went from a Yamaha 225 (OX66) two stroke at 525lbs to the F250 four stroke at 550lbs. Not enough difference to affect transom.

    Outfitting 226, making it mine

Alot of people have done that. I like the idea of locking the expensive electronics up. You know, keeping the honest, honest. It is also a nice waterproof storage for wallet and other valuables. my 12” mfd is clearly viewable while standing or sitting mounted in box with door open or closed.

    Prop Saver

I like to call it “trailer life” but seriously, beautiful day on the water today.

    Prop Saver

I added a Macs Prop Saver to the Yamaha T9.9 today. No worries of a downrigger cable or fishing line getting wrapped now. Pretty simple to do. Removed the old (2000) Standard Horizon VHF and antenna and installed a Lowrance Link-8 with AIS and a new Shakespeare 5225XT. Now just need to...

I believe the rails were built for the Tiara Yacht. It appears to no longer be available where I made the purchase, but here is a link for the vender with search. They may have something that will work for you needs. https://www.greatlakesskipper.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Grab+rail

Admitting you have a problem is the first step.....

Not a Grady subject exactly. Being on call on your birthday kinda sucks, but is giving me time to clean and replace line on a few rods and reels. I am realizing that i may have a problem. The truth is every rod I have is necessary as is having an extra for a spare or when fishing two rods. I...

    Show Us Your Grady

Don’t have any pictures with the rod holders/rods in place but when anchored up bait fishing off the back for sturgeon we balance our rods to detect the very light bite. When trolling for salmon, we have anchovy rigs set up, releases, weights, etc., think of it as a poor mans tackle center...
