    Seafarer live well operation?

edit: never mind, missed that it was a 226, not a 228.

    Test Ride-GW235

Probably be easier all around with a private owner. Many dealerships will only give test rides with a contract in hand, contingent on a satisfactory test drive.

    Safe Rpm's

If you have a real time readout on miles per gallon, or gallons per hour, I believe that peak efficiency is also an indication of lower stress on the motor, assuming that occurs on plane at a cruising speed.

    bolster foam

I used 1 3/8 closed cell EVA foam. Thinner but firm, you cannot compress it to the backer board. Consistent size and shape that is easy to work with.

    Thru hull info

I would be at least equally concerned about that pop out plate in the splash well. That’s a big hole if the lid pops off, and another goof on Grady‘s part. If it does pop out, you don’t want to lose it overboard. I had two of those in the splash well on my previous tournament 22. I drilled a...

    Seafarer 228 RPM and MPH

Picture of your prop, preferably with numbers. A stainless Yamaha M 17 is a good prop for that set up. My 2000 with 225 OX66 is mounted in the top hole on the bracket, and next to the top hole on the motor.

    Where is my bilge pump?

Does that model boat have a live well in front of the transom? If so, you will probably have to remove the live well, and dive in head first. Stick a hose to the through hull on the outside of the boat, and listen for where the water runs into the bilge. That will be your pump location.

    Backing into slip + fenders

I would recommend carrying at least two good fenders for those times you may have to tie up at an unfamiliar dock, or come along side another boat.

    Additive to gas tank

HH, you're reading way too much into a comment that was directed, indirectly, at the OP, not Trapper. I read it as, better things to do than deal with the fuel related engine headaches, not the discussion, which they all continued to take part in.

Midnight Express is in Miami, where is the boat located?

    265 Express AC

I've been running a portable DeLonghi in my garage for several years, and it is more than adequate, especially if you use an insulated duct for the warm exhaust run. There is no drain, it evaporates the condensate. Less than a small window AC at Sams a few years ago.

    265 Capsized of Jersey Coast

A reminder that it is a good idea to have a high water alarm in the bilge, and at least a light, if not also an audible, to let you know every time your bilge pump cycles. If you have other things running, like the live well, the stereo, etc., you might not notice that your bilge is pumping...

    gulfstream length on trailer?

Do you have some choice in the rental trailers? You can’t just assume that you will pull your boat up to the bow stop, and roll with that. A foot too far forward, or too far backward will make a tremendous difference in tongue weight. I would ask someone with the same boat/motor combo, that tows...

1997 Seafarer 22 question - Water coming in from stern deck drains

The photo is my SF 228, not the OP. There is nothing from the ideal world about Grady White’s scupper design, whether it be drainage, or access for service or replacement. When the boat stays in the water, it is in a marina, which is exposed to Bogue sound, so the constant movement of the water...

1997 Seafarer 22 question - Water coming in from stern deck drains

Take a close look at the transom through hull drains. There should be a black rubber flap, which is hinged at the top, and it should be closed, unless there is water going OUT of the drain. The flaps keep water out of the boat, in theory, but may not be functioning due to age, stiffness...

Peter Jenkins -- Along The Edge Of America

I don't see where either book has moved since Oct and Nov, 2020, so I am asking for a recall on mine. It went from KY to SMG around post #50. Should be the book, and a photo book with it. A padded envelope, and media mail is the cheapest postage rate. Thanks.

    No power

I can’t think of seven people that I would want to take out on my boat, especially at one time. But if I did, it would be rarely, and for short periods, and I would try a lower pitch propeller before I spent the money for a re-power. Assuming that 250 does well enough for 3 or 4 people.
