    Fast Asleep in Her Quarters

That is a clean rig Ky. While I can keep the boat looking tip-top, my trailer is not nearly as shiny. What's the secret?

    Trailer question

Congrats on your boat. I have been looking hard for over a year now for an Islander, and that one was tough for me to pass up... especially if it is in as good of shape as the photos look. Anyway, back to the trailer. I've done a lot of research to set up an Islander on a trailer. Dont do the...

    Maiden Voyage. Finally

As stated, treat the ethanol fuel, run as much out of the tank as possible, refuel with your favorite flavor, and enjoy your boat! Congratulations!

    25ft journey or 26 express

You are going to have a tow capacity issue, even with the Journey. A Journey with twins, hardtop, fuel will be over 8k lbs with the trailer. The 265 will be around 10k lbs.

    Maintenance guilt

The black oil has something to do with the additive yamaha uses. The shearing of the oil causes it to become black. Wspitler, your assumption is likely true. Where's Doc Stressor? He likely could give us the best answer.

    Maintenance guilt

LOL! My nose isn't what it used to be either. Thankfully I have my wife to help in that department! What color was your oil when you drained it? Mine was black. From what I have read that is normal for yamalube. As for the grease on the zerk behind the prop, my concern is putting in too much...

    Maintenance guilt

Probably sound advice if you keep your boat in the water. I don't.

    Maintenance guilt

I've often thought the annual maintenance routine on the water pump was mostly for the benefit of the marina and manufacturer, not the owner. We only run 30-40 hours per year, so going 3-5 years is no big deal IMO. Running WOT constantly or in nasty water would have me do this more often. BTW...

Be sure to add bumpers to the dash or the block to prevent screw heads from gouging your gelcoat.

What are Greenwood Transoms and Why They Don't Rot

Does it absorb water? Based on the builders experience and description, it performs a heck of lot better than anything available prior. If it doesn't absorb water, it wont delaminate. I have heard of a few Greenwood boats delamination, but nothing like the boats that were standard marine ply. I...

What are Greenwood Transoms and Why They Don't Rot

GW started using this in transoms in 97 and then replaced stringers with this in 98. What I haven't been able to determine is if it was used as coring for floors, deck lids, etc. Apparently balsa was still used after 98 for coring material on side walls and likely other area, but I dont know...

Anyone know the story behind this boat?

Am actually ok with the repower. My biggest concern about the engines would be trying to find someone that would actually want them if I repowered! To be more specific about what I'm trying to learn more about. See my post in the For Sale section.

Anyone know the story behind this boat?

The islander didn't change windows till 2003. I'm confident it is a 2001 hull.

Anyone know the story behind this boat?

The hull looks great. The topside however has been beat to hell in some areas and has been poorly repaired.
