    Towing Grady with Jeep

Anyone could look it up and do their own research to comfort themselves with info rather than comforting themselves by attacking me. I posted this standard above to make it easier to verify everything I said previously: Most of the major truck manufacturers are now using SAE J2807 as the...

    Sailfish scupper hoses

Thanks for posting. Mine is a 2005 and I need to inspect mine. I suspect I'll have to address this maintenance item in the not too distant future.

    Updating stereo on boat 228

I'm happy with my new 6.5" Skars. I kept my 15yo Clarion head unit but added a Pyle marine amp and four 6.5" Skars.

    Towing Grady with Jeep

Well, hell, this is the first time I knew your point. All along I thought you were saying it's dangerous. So, you don't think it's dangerous to tow at or below max just that it's hard on the vehicle. We agree then. I've never experienced any suspension damage or wear when I'm towing more...

    Towing Grady with Jeep

It did turn into a pissing match but I'll defend myself when someone is putting words in my mouth or misunderstanding my meaning. I never said anything except you are ok "UP TO THE LIMIT". Here is an expert response from the website E-Trailer, it backs up my position and while he mentions it's...

    Towing Grady with Jeep

I'm starting to think you are on drugs. "You never said anything about gross numbers in your first comment" In my 1st reply to this thread on the 1st line I mentioned 7200lbs. Ratings are there for a reason. My position is there's safety built into that number therefore it's safe to tow...

Completely wrong again. Surely you know simple numbers and that 7199 is less than 7200. You are quoting me, reading me, then using your own thoughts/words. Read what I wrote again and again til you can see nowhere did I say exceeding the limit was ok. I said, and still maintain 1 lb. under...

    Towing Grady with Jeep

Mustang - I stopped reading your response when I saw you misunderstood and/or misquoted me. I used the term "near gross" and you decided I meant "at or over it's maximum tow rating" That's not what I meant or said, you are wrong.

    Towing Grady with Jeep

I didn't compare my 3/4 ton p/u to the Jeep. I compared my towing experience (near gross) to the topic at hand (near gross). Having those 2 compete head to head would be dumb...and I'm brilliant. :D I also voiced "my opinion" based on my extreme perceptiveness and experience towing boats for...

    Towing Grady with Jeep

Nothing. You'll be fine. If the rig weighed 7199 I wouldn't worry. The 7200 lb rating has a lot of safety built in. I towed my recently bought 282 Sailfish from N Maryland to coastal NC (400ish miles) with the truck I just sold, a 2012 GMC 2500 with 6.0 gas rated around 10,000 lbs. It did...

Several Functions On My Gauges Don't Work

2005 Yamaha F250 with round gauges. No speed or trip, no oil or temp data, no ttl or econ RPMs and fuel level graph work. Where to start???

    repowering a 2004 282 sailfish

I have F250s and I'm pretty close to the Yamaha performance bulletin. 3500 is about 22 kts, 4000 is 27 kts

    Stiff Binnacle

It was binding in both directions. I did more tests when I got to the boat. Disconnected linkage at motor end, still binding. Left that loose while I opened the binnacle, binnacle with cable disconnected was very free.

    Stiff Binnacle

Replaced the port throttle control cable today. It's a 2 man job (on my boat) but I got it...I was taking my time and it took about 4 hrs. I believe with 2 people it might take half that. It was so free I had to tighten up the friction screw. The shift cable is still very smooth. I guess if...

Could you post pictures showing how yours is different from original? I'm going to have to replace mine soon.

    Stiff Binnacle

It is the throttle portion only. Both move easily from Rev thru Forward, only when I continue to advance the port side (and not fast :D) does it become STIFF. Anybody know the length or part number for the throttle cable I need for a '05 Sailfish 282?
