Thanks for the ideas. I'll pick up a plastic scruby thing and give it a try. We are also picking up a box of IQF anchovy so if the live bait dies, they become dead bait and chum with their brethren, expensive, but bait all the same.

mboyatt, I'm interested in the Icom with GPS internal. Is it mounted on the dash or in the electronics box? I'm just curious if it would have issues with getting a signal in the electronics box.

IF the 15% fuel savings turns out to be true in real world testing I'd consider the Gen2 for a repower. As others have said, about year 3 or 4 in the new series might be time enough to try them. I'm wondering if current auto pilots will work with the new steering system?

It will depend on what I'm fishing for. Near shore halibut and rockfish, 2-5 miles; deep water halibut is 24-30 miles; salmon is 1-10 miles; and albacore tuna is 20-55 miles.
