    2001 282 w/f250's...prop size

i repowered my 2004 Sailfish last year with 2017 F250's. The props recommended by Yamaha were 15 1/2 x 17. These get me 6,000 RPMs wide open and about 52 MPH. When I first for the engines the props were back ordered and I was using 15 1/4 x 19 from my old F225s. Those props only got me about...

    Horizon 500 windlass question

Has anyone ever replaced a Horizon 500 windlass on their boat. Mine is a 2004 and I was wondering if the newer Lewmar windlasses are designed to fit the same deck bolt holes?

    Mystery switches

I just checked my Sailfish panel and I have 14 switched. Originally 10 were utilized from the factory and there were 4 accessories. Out of the original 10 the one you are missing is the fuel. The other 4 you will have to figure out of they were utilized by the previous owner. Good luck

    Mystery switches

Another tip - 3 of the switches have dual purpose - Navigation one way and anchor the other way, Windshield Wipers - one blade or two blade, fuel - main and auxiliary - that should help with isolating 3 of them.

Wow have you actually run from the Keys to Dry Tortugas in a Seafarer. How did you manage the fuel on the round trip. Isn't that a 140 mile round trip? I assume there is no gas supply on the Dry Tortugas. I made the trip there in April but it was on the ferry, great spot that we will be visiting...

    Labor of Love 232

I had a 2004 Gulftstream powered by a single F225. There is a lot of discussion on whether that is enough power for that boat. I never had any issues with the power with a full crew of guys and fishing gear. I really liked the Gufstream but decided to go the next step to a Sailfish with twin...

    2000 Marlin

Hi - I have 2017 F250 4.3L twin engines on a Sailfish and we are running with 15 1/2 X 17 Stainless Steel props. Would imagine you would be the same. I have never heard of dry exhaust issues with the 4.3 L engines. Just curious on the engines being 2016 on your repower. Were they left overs...

    Bolster pad removal

The screws on mine are accessible through the weep holes. You should be able to find the screw by inserting a PH screwdriver through the hole at a 45 deggre angle. When I replace mine, I never replace the screws as the brackets hold them tight enough. if you try sliding them up and they do not...

    Loss of steering control...need guidance.

Same thing happened to me once and now I check the fluid regularly to make sure it is full. I always carry a tube of fluid just in case. It's not fun losing steering. I would double check for a leaks bc the fluid must be going somewhere, it does not just evaporate . Mine ultimately had a leak at...

    Troubleshooting an Old Fridge

one other thing to check is the knob you used to change the temperature. That is also an on/off switch. If you went all the way with the knob you may have shut it off (can't remember if it is right or left). There is a click you will notice when you move the knob past the on or off position.

Repower options for 282, real data available?

These were the props I got with the new F250. I was originally running with the old props from my f225s because the new SDS props were backordered. With the old props I was running around 5200 RPMS - with the new SDS 15 1/2 x 17 we top out around 5900RPMs. They are the perfect prop for your set up

    Black marks under lid covers

Another tip I got from someone on this forum was to carefully apply soft scrub with bleach to the caulk line (not on gelcoat) and let stand overnight. Next day hose away and It should be clean. Sometime it gets inside the sealant and the only solution I have found is to replace the sealant.
