    228 SeaDek

I am very familiar with the SD being used over non-skid as just about every Sea Ray that we've gotten in at the store over the past 5 or 7 years has had it on the swim platform. So far so good.

2019 Freedom 275-Bennett Trim Tab indicator issue

First, I would PHYSICALLY verify that the tabs are moving. You can hear the MOTOR running, but you don't know for sure that the tabs are moving without checking. Second, there's usually a pretty good troublehsooting guide in the owner's manual (which should also be available online if you...

    Macerator/Waste holding tank

Did the housing/etc all look good? It doesn't take much of a scratch/gouge at all to affect performance. Often, all it takes is a scratch where you can just barely "catch" your finger nail.

    Macerator/Waste holding tank

It sounds like you need a new impeller? Instead of the pink stuff with ethyl alcohol, you could use the pink stuff with propylene glycol.

    Bilge pump indicator lamp

Funny... I thought of mentioning crash valves, too!

Scandvik actually makes some really nice band clamps... 316SS with a solid band and rolled edges - both so it doesn't bite into the hose and also lasts longer.

    Bilge pump indicator lamp

Yup, some brands of SS clamps are better than others - it all comes down to the quality of the metal being used. Stainless steel "stains less"... it's not "stain proof" :) EDIT: Oh... and some "SS" band clamps... use a SS band, but still have a regular steel worm gear!!!

However, the secondary "emergency" pump is also there as redundancy should the primary fail. Plus, it's typically a higher GPM rating than the primary since the idea is that, IF it's activated, it may be because there's a leak somewhere and the primary needs help. In many larger boats, this is...

    228 SeaDek

Yup - don't disagree there! Now, if you DO like the idea of removable, there is another type of snap out there called "snad" and it is a slightly different design where it's pretty much flat so it doesn't dig into your heel. However, they are a glue/stick-on thing and I honestly don't know...

    Deck lighting amp

Probably depends on exactly what "lights" you're talking about... cockpit, spreader, etc. But this info is usually in your owner's manual - or you can download it on GW's site.

    228 SeaDek

That will look very nice! 6mm? 9mm? Have you thought about using snaps instead of glue down? The only downside to snaps is that if two panels are tight to each other, they sometimes expand and curl up a tiny bit from the sun. Glue down seems to avoid that. Side note... They didn't used to...

    Bilge pump indicator lamp

From my experience, float switches in clean bilges last A LOT longer than 5 years. I think it's the dirty, gunky bilges that for some reason give them a shorter life. I commonly see these things still in use after 10 or 15 years. When you install the emergency/high water pump, you'll need a...

Good deal - glad you can make some noise again!

    Bilge pump indicator lamp

Yup - whenever you see a pump with three wires, that means it also has an automatic feature... assuming someone hooked up the other brown wire to the battery, of course! Try manually activating the pump to be sure the auto function is working. If it has a float switch (looks like it does)...

    thru hulls

It's highly unlikely that you'd need to replace the bronze thru-hulls for functional reasons. Bronze is the most durable metal used on boats. Now, chances are the chrome is pitting away, or at least starting to - but that's just aesthetic.

    Bilge pump indicator lamp

You know what, though? With only being in the slip for 3 days - and of course you're going to be using the boat a lot - it's not like it's going to sit for weeks at a time unattended... I probably wouldn't worry about putting in a float -- although it's strange that the boat doesn't already...

1994 263 chase transom spray issue

Yup - while it's hard to tell from the pictures, as we mentioned early on, you're "roughly" looking for 1" higher for every 1' setback. Put a straight edge on the bottom of the keel and adjust accordingly.

1994 263 chase transom spray issue

Good - thanks for those pictures - it makes it much easier to "see" what's going on ;) So... while up on plane, even though you may getting some spray shooting up higher, the "main" water is still going to be coming straight off the bottom of the main part of the hull. At slower speeds, where...

    On board charger installation

Like anything, it's an option. Some may not really need it with the way they boat. I guess you either pay for it without knowing about it (standard feature) or pay for it and know about it (optional feature). :)

1994 263 chase transom spray issue

Jack plate... I meant that as a way to use the existing engine and raise it up. It's hard to imagine what you're saying about water "jumping" up without seeing the hull config. However, while on plane, water should simply be flowing off the lowest surface - wouldn't that be the main hull? All...
