1994 263 chase transom spray issue

Generally speaking, the anti-VENTILATION plate should be 1" above the keel for every 1' it is set back from it. Are you sure that boat calls for a 30" lower? Most use a 25". Does Grady recommend a 30"? I'd ask them about that. But, it sounds like you need to at least raise the engine - how...

    Winter Boat Cover?

Fisher covers makes excellent canvas covers (yes, "canvas") for winter use... even in northern climates. I had one years ago on a different boat and know of many who have had them.

    Overall length of Marlin

If anything, I'm probably only off on that 24" by a few inches. That will likely get you close enough - but if you're really close, then we need to get more exact. Oh... you probably need to know the length with the OB tilted up, right? That's more like 48".

    Overall length of Marlin

Figure the it extends past the mounting point about 24" - but you can probably google and find the exact specs if that's not close enough for whatever model year you're talking about. Next, go to Grady's website and look at the specs for the particular boat model year you are talking about and...

    Switching from Bennett to Lenco

Generally speaking, Bennett's are pretty much a tank and last many decades without any maintenance. When they do, it may just be a simple repair (cheap, too). But first, check your fluid level. Remove/clean all electrical connections for good measure, too. Also, Bennett's site has good...

    On board charger installation

If the spot where you would like to screw the charger to is not thick enough, you can thru-bolt it... if the other side is accessible, of course. OR... use epoxy or adhesive caulk to attach wood to the spot, then screw the charger to that.

    Gulfstream fishbox thru-hull

Ah. Yes, Olaje. Same thing - I was basing my response on your first picture where the pliers where griping only one dog/nub. Hmmm... 5200? I know this is in hindsight, but that was the wrong stuff to use. That stuff is like super glue and you only need a sealant here. The fitting stays in...

    DC enclosure v. WA enclosure

Even in May, often times! I've owned boats with a regular bimini top and enclosures. As far as functionality goes - it's exactly the same as something with a hardtop. They work perfectly well. You'll have a bow cover that will secure to the middle windshield - ideally, there will be a tab on...

    On board charger installation

Install it in the vicinity of your batteries but not directly above it because of possible outgassing. Marinco makes a nice plug setup - both hardwired version and a "cord keeper" version - check out their website. Also, check out Pro Mariner's line of ProNautic chargers - they are excellent...

2000 Gulfstream 232 horn switch wiring question

Looking at your picture, it almost appears that there are two spades/studs on the switch? It's hard to tell from that picture, though. Ah, OK, that style. Try the aftermarket - Sea Dog Marine and Sierra come to mind. I know there's a squared off version of "about" that size still out there -...

2000 Gulfstream 232 horn switch wiring question

It's doubtful that soldering is going to be possible - it likely broke off for a reason (metal got corroded). I guess you could dribble some solder in there and hope... but, at best, it's going to be a band aid. Measure the hole and compare to various switches out there... Carling and Blue...

2003 Grady White Express 33 with Suzuki 350 duoprop

It's still... ventilation, not cavitation. TOTALLY different things - it's important to use proper terms to avoid confusion. One engine being trimmed higher than other could do it. The boat not running level coudl do it. Also, if there's a thru-hull in front of one of the engines, that could...

    bunk guides

Saw the same thing happen with a roller trailer. In this case, he did not have a safety chain and the old winch gave out. BANG! Either way, these are chocked up to user error - YES, as a safety precaution, always leave things connected. Personally, I even do it with carpeted bunks - at least...

2000 Gulfstream 232 horn switch wiring question

There has to be at least two posts. Input and output - possibly more depending on the setup... lighted switch, grounded switch, etc. Forget about the picture - we know the switch is the problem - or at least one of the problems. You're going to need a new switch, at a minimum. Find your V+...

    bunk guides

Yes, I've done the brake stomp thing when needed, however it is rarely needed. I think you may be too far in the water - if the back end of the boat is still floating when you're already on, that's the issue. Floating the back end changes the angle of the boat just enough to cause that issue...

    Gulfstream fishbox thru-hull

Thanks for writing back, Olaje. But what I meant about the pliers was not the "kind" of pliers - it was how you use them... Using BOTH nubs. Yup, I hear you on the sealant. You know what removes old sealant really well? Fishing line and/or a plastic razor blade. I do this for a living - it...

    bunk guides

OK, so this is just a side note... If you have carpet on your bunks, replace/add it with "bunk slicks" - basically, plastic. It makes the boat slide on/off SOOOOO much easier. It's almost like a roller trailer.
