    Updating Ditch Bag

vacuum sealing is a great idea. I bet that works for a lot of things You would keep in a ditch bag or even stuff you just want on the boat . Once you have the sealer its no biggie if you have to use something. You can re-seal again before your next trip. Exactly why I like reading this forum!

What is the purpose of these small keys?

Yes, Fishtales is 100% correct. Those southco latches figure out a way to lock themselves all the time.. Even more when you dont have a key and its usually on the hatch you need to get in the most. Lol. Put one on your ignition key chain. You’ll certainly need it at some point.

    T-Bag dilemma

If you do get a t-bag I have a hack that will keep it from sagging. On my previous boat I built an internal frame from 1/2 pvc. Made it fit tight inside the bag and it kept the bag perfectly square. Zipped up on the inside so you couldn’t see the pipes. I also removed the hideous logos on the...

    Underwater lights?

I had sea blaze lights on my last boat for like 6 or 7 years without a single problem. When I bought the Grady the shape and holes were different and 2 of three lights were bad. Replaced with single color blue shadowcasters because of the ease of surface install and they fit the old screw holes...

    RYAK.

So did you enjoy your trip? It’s a fun run to make. Even around CR shoals, with an outboard you can get a lot closer than you think and still be ok. I agree with you on the seas. Our seas down here off Marco and the Cape can be really rough and crazy. All the forecasts had it at under 10 kts...

    Wandering Yamaha Fuel Gauge

Thank you, Found the problem with the fuel Sender and a few other things as well. When I replaced my batteries I missed one ground connection that went from Bank one to bank two. Jumper cable end got buried behind a battery and I missed it. Most problems instantly solved but feel a little...

"New to me" 2000 263 Chase - few questions

I could be wrong but you need to be sure the transom can handle twin 250’s. The easier solution but not the most popular is to find a newer 30” 350 . I just sold a good one and a bad one for a total of $5k and the good one ran perfect. The bad one had a failure unrelated to the flywheel problems...

    Wandering Yamaha Fuel Gauge

My fresh water tank has been pegged at zero since I bought it. I‘ll check that too. That tank is plastic so I assume the sender has to be grounded elsewhere?

    Wandering Yamaha Fuel Gauge

Good advice. I’ll bet I missed a ground. That’s exactly what it’s doing. I’ll check this weekend. Thank you !

    Wandering Yamaha Fuel Gauge

I noticed after replacing all my batteries that my fuel gauge seems to wander up and down from full to about 1/3. Totally random and highly inaccurate. I know exactly how much fuel I have because I reset the logs every time I fuel and the fuel burn on the Yamaha gauge isn’t affected . Was going...

    GW Delivery Delays?

All manufacturers adjust their production lines and shift labor based on what is retail sold and needs to be built and delivered. They would much rather work with the consumers money to build boats rather than borrow money to build for stock. I don‘t think you have to worry about quality with a...

What are you paying for insurance?

I'll take a look at them. I was with Chubb for many years on my Sea Craft and my insurance broker recommended the switch to Geico. They were his least expensive option at the time. I'll just have to roll the sleeves up and start dialing for dollars.

    GW Delivery Delays?

I dont sell Gradys ( I do own one) but the manufacturers that we sell are all experiencing excessive workforce absentee problems to the tune of about 25% of their work force per day due to Covid and Covid related problems at home ( Kids schools, relative sick, exposure quarantine etc) Their...

    Taxes

Whats your sales/use tax on a boat in NH? In Fl its capped at $18,000 no matter how much the boat costs (6% of the first 300K plus any local surtax which usually isn't much) . I agree that as long as you pay tax in one place or the other, its usually fine

    Battery Charger question

I looked all over for a 4 lead and went to 3 different west marine stores locally. All of them were out and this was my only weekend to do it. So three bank it is. Old and new set up in pics. Old charger was getting wet in the location they had it. I moved the new one into a drier location and...

    Battery Charger question

My primary concerns were how I had them hooked up and if it hurt the charger if I had the engines running at the same time the charger was running. Answers from Pro Mariner when I called them and I paraphrase; We don't recommend batteries be hooked up in parallel because if one goes bad the...
