    Folding transom

I'm 99% certain it's not structural, as you fold it down when you lift the motors. I'm pretty sure I could make a template with mine. I haven't measured the thickness of the existing one, but it's pretty thick as well, so 3/4 or 1 inch would probably be what I use. Just trying to think on how...

    Folding transom

Has anyone replaced their folding transom on a 265? The one on the boat I bought is pretty beat up. Was maybe thinking replacing with starboard? Thanks

    Loose steering wheel

Just to let everyone know, I ordered the HA6523 tilt assembly, and it fit perfect. The mounting plate and tilt mechanism are updated and look different, but the way it mounts to the dash and pump are the same.

I found one kind of local to me here in the Pacific NW, bought it a few weeks ago. Now just going through it and getting things fixed/cleaned up.

    Loose steering wheel

For the reading I've been doing, it does look like the HA6523 is the replacement. States that it fits "Classic and traditional tilt helms". I'll give Dometic a call Monday just to verify.

    Loose steering wheel

The black extension piece I circled is what has broken off and is in the plastic trim that slides over it

    Loose steering wheel

And now that I look more closely, it's been repaired at some point. That looks like JB weld on the helm side, and you can see some coming out of the plastic where the broken piece is.

    Loose steering wheel

It wobbles all over. If you look close, you can see that metal bushing still pressed into a piece of metal that broke off the tilt mechanism.

    Loose steering wheel

Was looking into why the steering wheel was loose. Found the problem, but seem to be running into a dead end for a parts diagram. It's a Seastar Tilt helm HH6541 the original one that came on the boat 2000 265. I'm guessing the part that is broke is part of the tilt assembly. I know Skunk...

    MFD's

Well unfortunately money doesn't grow on trees at my house, but I've ordered what I think will work for what I need, and feel I got a good deal. Raymarine Axiom 12 with Navionics charts (no transducer) retail is $2600, found it on clearance at West marine for $1900 Raymarine Axiom 9 RV, (no...

    Officially part of the club

The hydraulic fluid on the back of the helm was fluid burping up back through the fill plug. Obviously due to air in the system. I've looked over the steering system and haven't found any "obvious" leaks. The only thing that may be suspect is the ram is a little "wet", didn't really see any...

    Officially part of the club

So if any knows a Robert from Boca Raton, FL (appears to be the original owner) or a Charles or Robert (2nd owners)from Pismo Beach, CA that used to own a 265, let them know the boat is still around. Found a bunch of paperwork, registrations, service manuals, etc in the big Grady bag. So...

    Officially part of the club

Yeah, aluminum boats are the same way right now. I bought my 2015 North River Seahawk new for 55k. I added probably 8k worth of stuff over the years to it. Just sold it for 65k. He was out of line at his original 65k asking. There are a couple of comparable 265s on the east coast right now...

    Officially part of the club

Well as of this weekend, I am now the proud owner of a 2000 265 express. Almost wasn't the case. A little story... Saw this particular 265 for sale up in the Seattle area on Marketplace around middle of August, it was listed for 65k, which I thought was a bit high considering it has the OX66...

    265 survey tomorrow

Tomorrow is the day to finally get the survey done on a 265 I've been looking at. Hoping everything goes well but expecting the worst. Keeping my fingers crossed.

    Foam in a Grady?

I'm coming from an aluminum boat, and foam is not your friend with aluminum. That's why when I bought mine, I made sure it was above the 20ft length and they didn't use foam. To many stories of hulls corroding from water-soaked foam against the aluminum hull. The research I've been doing on...
