    Ridiculous Rate Increase From BoatU.S.

And you're inland, or so it would seem from your profile. Can you imagine what your increase would have been if the boat was stored in a coastal area?

    Props

If you don't get the answer from the guys on this forum, I suggest calling Bay Propeller in Chesapeake, VA, and speak with Max. His advice for me was right on the money, and his price for the prop I got was one of the most competitive prices on the 'net. Additionally, some of the members of...

Captains with Insurance from BoatU.S. Should Probably Read

Boat US will tell you that your marine insurance is issued by CNA. CNA is owned by Allstate, a fact that I just learned today. If I had known this when I was shopping for insurance last year, I would not have purchased insurance from BoatUS. If you're from the east coast, you may remember the...

    Ridiculous Rate Increase From BoatU.S.

Actually it was hurricane-related. The underwriter I spoke with said those who lived in the areas hit hard with boat damage paid even more. But, I have learned something about BoatU.S. insurance, labeled as "CNA". CNA is owned by Allstate, the company that wouldn't pay homeowner claims in the...

Was just told this morning my marine premium was going up 27.4 percent annually. I don't keep my boat in the water, nor have I had any claims in 20 years. Unbelievable. Any of you guys write insurance?? Send me PM, we'll talk..

    Post-Sandi Marine Insurance Premium Increases

Travellers has been very competitive. If BoatUS gets too grabby (interpreted as "hungry") I know where I'm going to look first.

    Post-Sandi Marine Insurance Premium Increases

I was speaking to an underwriter at CNA, which happens to be the insurance carrier for BoatUS. She told me that even though I had no marine insurance claim in over 20 years, that insurance rates could go up as high as 37 per cent this year. For any of you who have renewed your insurance since...

"Sonar" vs FishFinder: What's the Difference

Just got my 2013 Cabelas Saltwater catalog today. Inside, is a Lowrance unit, Elite-5 Color Sonar/GPS Combo. Looks strangely like a fish finder to me. Is this a marketing ploy or is there a basic difference between what Lowrance is selling and a conventional fish finder? Thanks in advance...

    Garmin GPS Recommendation

Is Everything Really Touch Screen? I looked at the Garmin website, and all the newer units with 5 inch screens and larger were touchscreen. I would much rather have buttons than the touchscreen feature..I hope I am wrong about the newer Garmin units. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Strapping Frozen Calipers to Axle - Question

Kroil is one of the best friends a salt water boater can have. It's too bad for them that they don't advertise it more, and make it more readily available where you could walk in on a Saturday afternoon and buy some in a store. If you want to try it, you can get a free sample at...
