That looks awesome. I'm assuming you replaced all the hoses. Where does the vent hose go to on the opposite end of the tank? My tank was done in 2015 but I want to make sure my vent hose isn't clogged, Thanks.

Its actually the same helm as yours, mine just has that quick connect adapter pictured above that's screwed onto the bottom threaded opening.

Use Meguiars Oxidation Remover and a wool pad on a buffer. Will get those out in no time, follow it up with polish and wax.

Thanks great info. I spoke with a tech at Seastar who make the SH5000P unit. He said you can use the optional adapter (pictured) for it which screws on and allows you to use the quick connect style cable. I should have this adapter already on my old helm since my cable looks like quick connect...

Thanks for the pics, that looks a lot like mine. Did your cable end not look like mine? I just want to try to confirm that what I have is the quick connect style cable. My cable was changed in 2015, so I'm hoping that's still good and usable. Thanks for the help

Here is a pic of my Teleflex helm steering box in the first pic. I still need to clean up the wiring..The 2nd pic looks just like mine. The 3rd pic is what I think I need for a replacement (Teleflex T5000), but I am not sure, Thanks.

Anyone know what an 89 204c came with as far as steering helm? Mine seems to be skipping gears, has excessive play and locking up. Locked up right before I was about to go under a bridge today. Cable is only 4yrs old and slides smoothly.I will get a pic attached, looking for a replacement unit...

You can make them out of starboard. Would be better than the originals.

Thanks guys, good info to know. I guess I could use 2 short straps for the rear, and 1 over the gunnels for added security. I am only going about 40 miles but you always think and worry about these kind of things.

204c, I meant gunnels or gunwales. It's a 23' dual axle trailer but the rear of the boat hangs over in the back almost a foot, so the straps are at an angle if I strap them. I'll have to take a pic.

I understand the straps go from eyes in transoms to eyes on sides of trailer, but are they effective at such an angle? I normally use one big strap from one trailer eye over the tunnels and down to the other, but wondering if that's the safest way. Thanks

Thanks Dennis for the info. I will need to check it to see if it still has the O-ring or needs one. I did have some water in my tank. I'm pumping the gas out and replacing with new. I'm guessing it is the cause, since tank was nearly full and used stabilizer before I winterized last season.
