I have an 04 282 now powered with F250's . The original engines were F225. Gas mileage is pretty close between the new and the old - 1.25 to 1.6 on an ideal day

yup - it is just a refund of an overcharge!

As a temporary fix a got some aluminum flashing and siliconed it over the existing cap - did the job for a few yean before a permanent repair

Many new boats have some imperfections that once identified are taken care of by then dealer. Have not even heard of many issues that needed to be elevated to GW. Have you tried to elevate the issue with GW management? May be worth a shot.

If you are wondering how to get to the screws, the dome light cover pries off. Its tricky but a small flat head can do the job.
