    Voyager 248 Speed Question / 300hp

We had a bare bones 99 248. With a 225 ox66, it would hit 46 mph with a cupped 17m prop. With a 300, you should be able to hit 45-50 depending on options, engine, and overall set up.

Cabins of the 226/228 vs. 232 vs. 248/258 vs. 268

The 248/258 has the most room for sleeping if you put all the cushions in. At 6'1", I had no issues stretching out. The ceiling height is about 5'6". We had one. The 268/270 has a smaller sleeping area. My head touchess the head wall when I stretch out. The ceiling height is about 6'3". Many...

    manual to electric

I might be wrong, but I think you have some confusion with the components of your flush and waste system. Looks like you have a manual Jabsco head pump. This isn't used to pump waste overboard, but rather to the holding tank. The holding tank has a separate macerator that pumps waste overboard...

Trailering a 1992 Grady White Sailfish

The dumb thing is the cost of parts. The cost of the different systems isn't too far off. Since it is offered as an option, you get gouged when ordering new. If EOH was offered based on actual cost when ordering, it would only be a $300 upgrade. Sort of like the $2k wheel upgrade on a new car...

Feels like spun hub but isn't

FWIW, my props lose bite in certain types of chop along with load conditions too. They work great 80% of the time, but the other 20% is when I really need them to perform well. I haven't read all the details of your post, but did you talk to the prop shop about adding a little cup? Cup can be...

Feels like spun hub but isn't

I'll throw this out there - your prop is worn out. Seriously. If you have been running the same prop for 27 years, the diameter of the prop has changed due to wear. My guess is the diameter has changed enough to change the geometry of the prop, and/or enough thickness of the prop has changed...

    A/C in a cuddy cabin

So is the price shown on the link correct? I see wally world has a 5k BTU that is about 35 lbs and 45bd for under $200. Ive wondered if I could make a platform for the walk around to blow it into the port cabin window. My wife and I have a few more years before overnighting will be a more...

Crappy situation part 2. You won't believe this!

From the looks of his shared photos, it appears overboard is the only option. Since I have another spot on the tank to run another tube, I could do that and have both overboard and pump out without a Y valve... I think.

    A/C in a cuddy cabin

The unit itself has some potential. You'll need a lot of lipo to make that work off a battery. What brand?

Crappy situation part 2. You won't believe this!

So you're only option to empty the holding tank is to pump it overboard? When they redesign the islander, the access to the holding tank system is much easier through the hatch at the helm.

Crappy situation part 2. You won't believe this!

Now that I am familiar with the plumbing, I understand what others have rigged up. I need to make some decisions on what to do with the old Groco and plumbing. If I try to add a Y valve to mine as configured, I'd have a long reach to that valve. I might consider placing the suction tube on the...

Crappy situation part 2. You won't believe this!

Success! Pump out and complete evacuation of the system. I actually get clear water out of the holding tank now. Plus, flushing actually results in clean water in the bowl. I never thought a marine toilet could bring so much joy! :) Now that I can actually have clean water in the bottom of the...

Crappy situation part 2. You won't believe this!

If anyone can provide the link, please do. There are several out there. I might make this a winter project including replacing the tank sensor with an external. While I'm at it I can add a freshwater tank sensor too.

Crappy situation part 2. You won't believe this!

The pump out hose was connected to the inlet and the head hose was connected to the discharge. The tank never emptied because I could only draw water off the top of the tank instead of from the bottom. Also explains why the head would back up.

Crappy situation part 2. You won't believe this!

The blaster pump is for fresh water. It has nothing to do with the waste system. Once I get this pumped out, I might try to resurrect the groco pump, but odds are it is trashed. It has been marinating in yuk for almost 20 years. If it is indeed not salvageable, I'll consider the options others...

Crappy situation part 2. You won't believe this!

You all might have seen my 2 other posts about my holding tank and head. Every time I think I have it fixed, I find out I don't. I finally pulled the floor up. I pulled the tank sensor out and the tank was 100% full despite pumping it out a week ago! Yamaha's make oil, my holding tank makes...

    Minimum Planing Speed & tabs

I have one hole left to go down with my engines, but I'm not sure if I can use it. It appears the transom might interfere with the engine bracket. I know there are 2 other islander owners on the forum with DF200s. I need to see what hole theirs are mounted on.

    Minimum Planing Speed & tabs

Good to know. I'll take that up with the prop tuner. I'd love to talk to someone who engineers props to better understand my experience. The inconsistency in performance depending on conditions and load is a head scratcher for me. Last weekend I ran 9 miles in a confused chop. I would have bet...

    Minimum Planing Speed & tabs

Trimming the engines up/out - I can't go more than a ¼ up the scale without an issue. As far as what the prop is specifically doing, I don't know exactly other than I lose "traction." I don't know how to determine the difference between blow out and ventilation. Df200 4 cylinders.

    Minimum Planing Speed & tabs

I'm open to feedback. Coming out of the hole I can't trim up more than a ¼ without slip. I can't raise the bow much either. As stated before, certain chop conditions causes loss of traction up to about 30 mph. The prop gurus have advised to try cup and have been successful with other Zukes with...
