    Engine height Grady 228

I've tried different setups throughout the years. I've had the boat for 11 years now, but I recently moved to an area where 3-foot short-period waves are the norm. Over the years, I've learned that sea conditions dramatically affect my boat's performance. In long-period swells of 8 seconds or...

    Engine height Grady 228

I was actually following Mr. Eric Sorensen from Grady White after watching his YouTube video on handling Grady White boats. He advised to rely more on engine trim than trim tabs as they act as a break unlike engine trim .... check this video on Youtube " Boat driving tips onboard a Grady...

    Engine height Grady 228

When navigating rough waters, I fully trim the engine down and slightly lower the trim tabs to bring the bow down. This adjustment allows the sharp bow to cut through waves more effectively, minimizing pounding by preventing the bow from being lifted and dropped by the very frequent waves...

    Engine height Grady 228

Thanks for sharing your upgrades. I saw your post about the seaspension seat and am looking forward to your feedback. Regarding the ride, our local conditions differ—we typically face short-period waves (under 4 seconds) around 3 feet or higher. When conditions worsen, with winds over 15 knots...

    Engine height Grady 228

I could use some advice on determining the right height for my outboard to get a smoother ride in rough conditions. I have a Grady 228 with a bracket and an 8.8 kicker. There’s some additional weight in the back with two batteries, an autopilot for the kicker, and a central live well. When I'm...

Fix rubber strip on my 228

Thanks will try to reposition it first before investing 10 dollars a foot (if failed). The helm area will be tricky so I'll do the transom side first (easier).

Fix rubber strip on my 228

Hi ... any advice on the best way to fix loose rubber strips ... It seems that strips lost their elasticity. It won't be a matter of gluing it (becoming shorter than the original length) ... Do I need to replace them? if yes, which ones should I buy.. thanks

    Wreck anchor for Grady 228

My Grady 228 (2004) has a Delta anchor and windlass ... I am going to fish a rocky area and think of getting a Wreck (Grapnel anchor) ... What size (weight) should I use? ... it won't be attached to a chain to reduce the possibility of being stuck. Thank you

Just want to update everyone... Two evo3 7 inches barely fitted inside the box but i had to fix them on a shorter wood frame to account for the curvature on the right and left sides. Furthermore, i have to remove the central two knobs ... replaced them With shorter pins ... Very tight and...

    Livewell drain fitting

Maybe I have a different tank! the inlet is at the top. If no water is flowing from the inlet, the tank remains full unless I remove the drain. I installed a regulator for the pump to control the time of its operation based on the amount and type of bait.

    Livewell drain fitting

Thank you for your reply... Unfortunately, the hose was disconnected from the livewell itself and not from the scupper ... this was a two-person operation. Now, being alone, I can't do it in the same reverse order :( ... The only way is to connect everything to the live well then secure it to...

    Livewell drain fitting

Thank you for your reply .... maybe mine is at the waterline because of the weight of the 4 stroke kicker. Do I need to add silicone or any gasket... or just double clamp the hose?.... I must say that many boat brands e.g. Boston whaler are much better than Grady-White when it comes to...

    Livewell drain fitting

Hi all, I changed the livewell pump on my 2004 228 but I am unable to reinstall the livewell hose back properly. The space is too tight to refit the hose to the drain at the bottom of the livewell and secure it with the double clamps. Should the hose be fitted to the bottom of the livewell first...

Transom angle on 228 .. installing 1kw Airmar transducer

Thank you for the great help .. Definitely, I'll use your photo to install the ducer .. i am still not clear how far the ducer should project below the transom. Due to the deadrise angle of the boat, if i keep it 3 mm below waterline as recommended by Simrad (side close to the central line)...
