‘06 330 Kenwood stereo replacement > Fusion RA670

I decided to replace my Kenwood on my ‘06 330 Express with new fusion stereo. We decide to run new cables which ended up taking us HOURS! We basically ran new 12/14 gage speaker wire, 30 ft NEMA 2000 cable and 12 AWS power to electrical box from stereo mount.

1) removed fridge and fed wires down and thru tube on left. (Easy)

2). Removed panel under stairs area and made turn and snaked it thru tube that goes thru forward bilge area. (hard)

3) removed entire panel under helm and fed wires up thru tube and into box. (

Plan is to connect power to stereo fuse on panel. Does anyone know what fuse that is?

Overall, this was not an easy job and the tubes were pretty packed which made feeding wires slow and painful.

I have a Garmin 7612 xsv and I’d like to connect my Fusion radio directly to it. Or would it be better to set up the NEMA network t connectors and go from that? I have not done that yet as the only thing plugged into the Garmin is the transducer. Thought I’d just connect the NEMA cord from stereo to Garmin unit directly (if that is possible)?

I am considering the same, but I plan to use the existing wires with the addition of a NMEA 2000 leg to my network to control the fusion. Did you use new speaker and power wires for a reason? You need to put in a NMEA 2000 network as it has to be powered on it's own. Power to the network can come anywhere along the network line. I put my network hub behind the engine gauge panel with a leg running up to the radio box and another leg back to the Yamaha hub for engine data. Very user friendly and provides for engine data on your 7612. You can also hook up your VHF FM if it has that (NMEA2K) capability.

I just decided to run all new wiring since I don’t think the speaker wires were that great. Also wanted to tag power to panel. Ran nema 2000 cord so plan to put the hub behind panel then connect everything. Is there any benefit to hooking up 2006 F250s to nema since I already have gages?

You will be able to see all the engine parameters on your 7612 in more detail, along with details of any alarms or check engine lights. When I have my electronics box fully open the gauges on my boat are partially covered. It is somewhat redundant, but you get more detail.

Thanks! I’m checking with my marine electronics guy to see if possible. My engines are 2006 F250 and there is no data connection in the back of gauges. See attachment.

You probably have a Yamaha data hub, (multi hub assembly)
P/N 6Y8-81920-01-00

aft by the engines. It may or may not have an open port that is actually a CAN bus and an NMEA2K system can read that, Those gauges are attached to that hub somewhere in the boat, My hub is just to the starboard side of the diesel tank. The engines and fuel tanks go to the hub and then to the gauges. That hub routes all the data forward. If there is no open port, you can add another hub for about $50. There is a cable that takes data from the hub and puts it on the NMEA2K bus for all to see.

For the fusion radio install, Grady said I could use the existing Kenwood radio power wires. However, the new fusion calls for a power input of 15 A but the fuse panel switch is 10 A. How do I upgrade it? It also says any long power run of more than 3 ft requires 12 AWS wire. No idea what the current power wire is.

Install done. Went ahead and connected New 12AWS power to panel but first had to replace the circuit switch/fuse which was 10 amp and my new Fusion radio required 15 amp. Key was to remove all the bolts that run on the left and right side of switches so you can slide out circuit. The ground simply attached to the ground block running beside it.

I used the existing memory wire (normally yellow but mine was red) which runs straight to the battery compartment to 10 amp fuse. Question I asked Grady was since the hot power wire is attached to 15 amp fuse panel switch, do I need to upgrade the fuse at the battery to 15 amp as this is the memory wire?

Fired up new Radio and works great! Replaced the 4 Kenwood speakers with new Fusion 200 watt speakers. I plan to also add speakers under gunnel in stern but haven’t found the right enclosed speakers.
